I've also heard of using untreated "deer corn" found at the local farm/seed store. I like the idea of making two cases... one to wash...

I've made them out of the cheap washcloths...just fold them in half and fill with long grain rice, not instant rice. Don't fill too full want to keep them a little flexible. put in microwave for about 2 -3 mins.

My mother is 95 and in a care home. She complains that her feet are always cold. I was wondering how I could make a rice bag for her feet. Would it work if I could make a square or oblong one and put ties on each corner so it could be wrapped around her feet after heating in the microwave. A filler with a removable cover for washing. I need to experiment a little I guess.

Mine is lined with a couple of thick flannel layers so that it stays warm longer--it seems to help.

i HAVE SEEN THEM MADE WITH FLAX SEED ALSO
|
I have a rice bag made especially for lower Back the person that made it sewed in long fabric ties so you could tie it on and move around and it would stay put.
I have another one that is filled with cherry pits smells so good when you take it out of microwave, like cherry pie it also stays warm longer |
I love it--of course, that meant you had to pit the cherries, so you had to make the pie--everyone is happy! I wonder if pumpkin seeds would work?

I made these with rice, flax seed, and lavender buds. The flax seed is supposed to make it moist heat. I also make a flannel sleeve that can be washed. Everyone loves them!

I used flannel as well and fine thay are great for releiving cramps in fingers or other body parts.
