My experience with those sharpeners is they DO NOT work. One of the girls in my quilt group bought one and said it was a terrible waste of money. Buying the blades from Harbor Freight is a much better option.

Thanks. I am starting a small home business and will be doing a lot of cutting. I have arthritic thumbs so the rotary cutters are a godsend.

Yes, they are..... after all, you are able to swap sides if you are a lefty.... like me... so you ought to be able to turn the blade....

No but there is a sharpener so that you can reuse a rotary blade multiple times. Check Nancy's Notions or Keepsake Quilting or someone like that. I have one and it works pretty nicely

I have one of the sharpeners. It works okay for a few times, then you need to just replace the blade. I bought the blades from Harbor Freight and I am not impressed. They are not as sharp as the replacements made for the rotary cutters. I probably will not buy them again.

HEARD YOU CAN SHARPEN THEM BUT IF YOU HAVE A KNICK THEY WILL NOT WORK

Blades can be sharpened (there not as good as brand new but you can get a sharpener for them. They now have one that is electric. I have the old style which does work. Good luck in your new adventure.

Actually, you can sharpen them to "a point"...they won't last very long, but then I have noticed that when I buy blades these days they never last very long at all any more. Where's the quality blades we started out with a few years ago when we shifted to rotary cutters?

When I was in FL last winter they had a website where you could "turn in" used blades and get new ones for a reasonable price -- I will try to find out the place. The quilt guild was very happy with it. As I recall, you had to send in 10 blades at a time.

I've tried sharpening the blades and didn't have any luck. Is there a right way or wrong way installing the blades?
