I have a 16" x 22". My cutting mat sits down into the frame also. I wish it was smaller. This size takes up a lot of room to use when turning it. I may have to get a smaller one. I don't use mine very often.

I have one that I keep on a TV tray next to the sewing machine and use it to cut small pieces, so I do not have to get up and go to the larger cutting board on the dinning room table. Love it!!!

I wouldn't purchase the one at Walmart either, if they have any left. You can't use the backside. Better to use the 50% or 40% off coupons at Michaels or JoAnne Fabrics for the very same item. I have 2 Olfa Brand 18"X24" rotary cutting mats, both purchased with coupons. You can put them together side by side or end to end to really measure and cut out larger projects. Still use my smaller 12" X 18" Duraheal Brand for smaller projects like cutting out small squares or creating potholder hot pads. Will be sewing today, its too hot to go outside. from, Debbie, Phoenix, AZ

I have a genius idea....get a lazy susan, screw plywood to that and attach a cutting mat to that...probably with adhesive......Home made rotating cutting mat!!!! I just havent gotten around to making one yet, lol

If you can find the older heavy wooden lazy susans it would work great. Keep an eye out at thrift stores and yard sales. The newer plastic ones will tip at the ends when cutting off center. I tired making one with the plastic turntable. It wasn't sturdy enough.[/quote]
menards!!!!! they have metal ones!!! |
My DH bought me a cutting table, mat and dress form In 1984 right after I got my Bernina. Never have used the dress form, but praying that my table will last till I die. Like Salem Mats better than any, but wish that Olfa would make one to fit my table.

OK, I've never heard of Fun & Done Patterns. Where are they? Sounds like my kind of pattern.

It's especially nice since I am left-handed and often seem to line my ruler up on the wrong side. A quick turn and I'm ready to cut.

I bought mine at Wal Mart. They at that time had a rotor cutter that looks like a large paper cutter. It really works great. Never could get the hang of the hand held one.
