I have a small tower fan that I put on the floor across the room. It circulates the air, but keeps the breeze below my work surface.

I have a ceiling fan that has a mind of it's own. Turns it's self off or on all the time. My sewing machine is right next to a sliding glass door so if I want fresh air I just open it up. We also have AC.

I have successfully used my small fan on the floor pointed up at me.

I have a ceiling fan and a small fan that is usually going when I am sewing. I don't use the overhead lights because it produces heat. I have a 24 Watt stand up light that produces "white light" No problems with threads, I usually sweep my floor when I'm done for the day!

my sewing room is in the basement. i have a small fan i turn on at times. i tilt it up a bit where it will move air but not be directly on me. my overhead lights get very hot.

I limit to a ceiling fan. The others frustrate me with the movement of things I am trying to hold still.

If its so hot I'd need a ceiling fan and AC to keep cool, I'd probably not be quilting that day - sharet

I'm sewing in the attic now, which gets extremely hot at times. None of the screens there are very snug, and with wasps around, I can't open the windows much. (I get exercise running from them occasionally!) I have a little fan, about 8 inches in diameter, which I aim more at my waist down when I'm sitting at the machine. I adjust it as I move around the room. Having that small fan is a life saver without having everything flying around.

Perhaps a fan at floor level would keep things from flying around. I have ceiling fans here is TX even in the ceilings on the back porch.
