I am not sure weither to put sashing between blocks or not. I think that I like both the same and I know that it would be easier to not sash. What do you all think? I have not decided on the main border yet. I originaly thought the large floral on pink was going to be it but now I am not sure and will decide after completing center. Opions?????????

I like it without.

DJ 10-22-2011 06:22 AM

It's beautiful and looks great both ways. You might let the size make the determination. I think I would choose not to sash if I had to make a choice though.

my thoughts, too

alikat110 10-22-2011 06:33 AM

I like borh...prefer without. If want it bigger, i'd make more blocks.

frarose 10-22-2011 06:57 AM

I agree with the without sashing.

KerryK 10-22-2011 07:01 AM

What color sashing would you use? I think something dark would be pretty ... if you decide to sash it, that is. Either way will be pretty.

mamaw 10-22-2011 07:03 AM

I like it without, but sashing does seem to allow each block to stand out more. Am looking forward to seeing the final product. Is going to be lovely either way.

dunster 10-22-2011 07:11 AM

I think I prefer it without sashing too. Just a warning - in each picture, a couple of blocks are turned in a different direction from the others. Not that it would make a difference...

Cosy 10-22-2011 07:14 AM

I like it without the sashing..

RDM 10-22-2011 07:20 AM

Usually I go for sashing but this time prefer this one without.

Thanks for the heads up! I must remember to make all diamonds go in the same direction. This is not finished placement to be sewed(also too many blues together). I will be careful on finished layout! Thanks again!!!!!!!!

blueangel 10-22-2011 08:11 AM

Without.

Carrie Jo 10-22-2011 08:32 AM

I think with out is my favorite.

quilter68 10-22-2011 08:37 AM

I like it w/o sashing and w/a dark/medium border. IMHO

cassiemae 10-22-2011 08:55 AM

Without for me too. Looks nice

MadQuilter 10-22-2011 08:56 AM

I think it is more impactful without, but pretty either way.

This is a great idea. I like it without and like someone else said if you want bigger make more blocks to increase size.

Chicca 10-22-2011 09:48 AM

I think that sashing would make each block stand out more; but it also looks soft without the sashing. Have fun deciding. Thanks for sharing.

IAmCatOwned 10-22-2011 09:53 AM

I like it without the sashing.

wolfkitty 10-22-2011 10:49 AM

I like it better with the sashing, but I seem to be the odd man out, so to speak.

pipp5 10-22-2011 10:58 AM

without. Very pretty!

Murphy 10-22-2011 08:25 PM

It is very nice either way, but I would prefer it with no sash.

MacThayer 10-22-2011 08:45 PM

I usually like sashing, but it just breaks it up too much to suit my eye on this one. It's not a pattern you want to break up. There's no reason to separate the blocks, so it feels wrong to me. I won't go on. Beautiful quilt! Gee you did a great job on it! My compliments! If you're worried about size, I'd just make the border wider. Oh, and I'd go for a darker, browner border. Don't ask me why. That's just the way I see it. Not real dark -- medium dark. And it wouldn't hurt to use a 2" border all round, with maybe corner squares, using the brightest colors from your blocks, just to pull those colors out a bit, make them shine! (you know, one bright color for the long, skinny border, another bright color for the 4 corner squares -- all taken from your block colors). And then add the medium dark brown print -- HAS to be a print -- and Wow! That's one awesome quilt.

These are just my ideas. Feel free to ignore at will.

Warmest Regards,

"Ditto"

Glassquilt 10-23-2011 03:02 AM

No sash

thenonnielady 10-23-2011 03:11 AM

I like without....sashing spreads the design too much...in my opinion.

grammagayle 10-23-2011 03:24 AM

I'm one usually to go without sashing......like flower gardens around houses, I like the 'natural' look without borders; and this one looks so natural as is. Pretty quilt.

Candy Apple Quilts 10-23-2011 03:29 AM

I like it without the sashing. I noticed that the pattern shows a high contrast between the background color in each block, so you'll want to keep track of that too. It's going to be easy for you to plan this one, since you can lay out all of your blocks before you start sewing. I'm sure it will be gorgeous when you're done!

quilt3311 10-23-2011 03:40 AM

It looks good both ways, sash if you want the finished piece to be a bit larger. But its lovely no matter which way you decide to set it.

catladyquilts 10-23-2011 04:01 AM

I like it without

MerryQuilter 10-23-2011 04:05 AM

Without seems better

Just Me... 10-23-2011 04:07 AM

I like it without the sashing.

Latrinka 10-23-2011 04:08 AM

I like it with sashing

bellydancer_cks 10-23-2011 04:12 AM

Cute pattern. I think the border will add interest, so I'd leave it without the sashing.

bigsister63 10-23-2011 04:29 AM

and the decision is----- NO SASHING---. Thanks for all the input (and compliments). I will post pic when it is done. Thanks again!!!!!!!!

Ed 10-23-2011 05:13 AM

I would go with a size you like. If I want a biger quilt I would use sashing to get my size.

Jackie Spencer 10-23-2011 05:21 AM

I like it without sashing, did I see another pattern emerge when set together without sashing...stars. Very pretty I lkie it!!

Judith 10-23-2011 05:40 AM

I like it without too!
