I finally went to Harbor Freight tonight.... Of course all you gals talked everybody around me to get there first! I looked and looked, my DH asked about the blades and finally I found where they were SUPPOSE to be! Yep, they were all gone, but the cutter was there..... in the cutter package there are 3 blades, yep 3. It was $3.99. Well, I HAD to have a blade, mine is going skip, skip, skip and frustrating (I dropped it when it was open on a ceramic tile floor). So even though each blade was double what the single blades were it still was lots cheaper than Jo-Anns with a 40% off coupon. Of course I had to get a couple other things..... Did you all know they have a wrist magnet? I thought I'd try that out and see if it will work. Here is a pic of my finds. Just a few cents over 10 bucks!

My great finds at HF!

I have been using the wrist magnet pictured for a few weeks and love it. It is strong enought to hold all the pins, needles and even the screwdriver(that was an accident).

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do! Congrats on your score!!!

This store must be an east coast store or someting. I live in So Cal and have never heard of it.

Pattiecake 08-23-2010 09:46 PM

There are several in the Sacramento and Chico areas. Haven't been to one yet but I get flyers for their sales.

They are all over California. It's a man thing. Well, it was a man thing!

SueDor 08-24-2010 02:29 AM

Good buys!

craftybear 08-24-2010 02:37 AM

great buys, just don't use the magnet holder close to any computerized sewing or embroidery machines

mygirl66 08-24-2010 03:22 AM

I had to buy the same carpet cutter, mine was out of the blades too, but it is still a good deal, compaired to what they want at JAF for new blades! Keep calling them back to see when they have them in stock!

Barbm 08-24-2010 03:45 AM

I'm hoping their are no quilters in my area that know about this. I need to get to HF! If they have them, I'm going to buy them all!!! (insert evil laugh here)

CarrieAnne 08-24-2010 03:53 AM

Great deal! I dont think we have them in WIsconsin!

bizybess 08-24-2010 04:06 AM

There are stores in St Paul, Minneapolis, Duluth, Milwaukee and Green Bay. Also Rockford, IL. Just Google Harbor Freight, scroll to the bottom of the page click on store locator, put in your zip code and it will tell you where stores are up to a 200 mile radius.

cjomomma 08-24-2010 04:31 AM

If I ever make it to Paducah I'm gonna check out their HF.

mom-6 08-24-2010 04:48 AM

In Waco HF is next door to Joann's! Will have to check it out next time I'm in Waco.

ckcowl 08-24-2010 04:54 AM

be careful with that wrist magnet if you have a computerized machine, it can really be a costly mistake if it gets too close; magnets clear computers! i do not allow magnets anywhere in my sewing room even though i did manage to get a re-furbished mother-board for $100 when a child decided to stick a magnet to the side of my machine to hold her little scissors. now NO MAGNETS ALLOWED
i do not care how handy or cute they may be.
but your finds look like great deals, i wish we had one of these stores here in northern Michigan.

Butterflyblue 08-24-2010 05:24 AM

Here in the TX Panhandle we've got a Harbor Freight (Amarillo). So it's not entirely West Coast.

CoyoteQuilts 08-24-2010 05:29 AM

Whoops! I forgot about magnets and computerized machines! Thanks for the heads up, you gals just saved me lots and lots of money!!! I'll keep this one in my hand sewing basket for the bindings and appliqué!

CoyoteQuilts 08-24-2010 05:29 AM

Drats I hit the button twice......

raptureready 08-24-2010 05:38 AM

I didn't realize this was a HF thread and posted another but when I ordered some (20 pkg) over the phone yesterday I found out that they're on back order and aren't expected in until Oct. It only a little more expensive to order them, you have to pay shipping. With all the taxes and shipping it's still only a shade over $1 a blade. My total was $40.48 for 40 blades. However, since our local store gets their trucks in on Monday and I was in town anyway.... I stopped and checked and got 5 pkgs yesterday.

paintmejudy 08-24-2010 05:54 AM

Thanks for posting the picture of the mini suction cup. When I went to HF for my blades, no one knew what the suction cup was or where to look for it. Now I have a part number - thanks.

tfarmer 08-24-2010 08:15 AM

Hi All,
I'm a lurker and I have a question about the carpet cutter.
What are you using it on? I've never used one before but i'm assuming it isnt anything like a rotary cutter.
TIA

loopywren 08-24-2010 11:16 AM

These cutters etc are such a good thing I am going to see if I can get something similar in UK, should have thought it would be possible. will report back later

Their west coast warehouse is walking distance from where I am now at work. Their Corporate office is another 4 miles up the road. They do have a presence in So Cal.

I have not gone by there and checked out the blades yet. I'm not sure if they will work as well in a Martelli cutter. Maybe if I think about it I will stop on my way home today. Problem is the freeway entrance is just before the corner where the Harbor Freight Shop is, I see it as I get on the frwy but then it's too late cause I'm in the wrong lane.

I live in Camarillo. They are a stone's throw from where I work.

The blades in the carpet cutter will fit in a rotary cutter. ;)

tfarmer 08-24-2010 07:50 PM

Wow, I had no idea, thanks for sharing.

Nope...all over northern California, too!

amalia64 08-24-2010 09:20 PM

I enjoy going to HF with my husband in Escondido, Ca. but never thought about the blades. Did mention to him that I had a few things to get there next time we went. Thanks for the info.

Alice Woodhull 08-25-2010 03:03 AM

I was at theHF in southern Indianapolis Monday. They had 6 packages, I bought 4 and left a couple for anyone else who wanted them. I haven't had a chance to use them yet, but will just as soon as I cut out something.

lnlwhitt 08-25-2010 03:29 AM

Dumb question but what do you use the suction cup for?

jolo 08-25-2010 04:02 AM

I live in oklahoma and have not found the carpet cutters. Still looking

I'm going to that HF next week. Hope they have some left.

ssgramma 08-25-2010 04:20 AM

They had a bunch of blades here in Bowling Green yesterday. And I was not greedy and left plenty for others ;-)

I bought ten pkgs od blades and my GF bought two. Also found two magnetic "bowls" to hold pins for $3.99. The one I got at the Expo was $12.95.

Surfergirl 08-25-2010 04:55 AM

I checked them out online and they're on back order. I'll keep checking and let everyone know if they finally get them in. My husband is getting a big kick out of this...lol.

Yarn or Fabric 08-25-2010 04:59 AM

Okay... I think I might have to get the mini suction cup. I have been wanting to get one to play with and for $3 you can't shake a stick at it.

We have a HF in town..
Anyone want me to check to see if they have blades? I can ship them to you lol. I don't need any as I scored 100 of them on ebay (Olfa brand, nip) for about $50 so I only paid 50 cents a blade. Yes, a few of my friends were in on that score lol.

Tinabodina 08-25-2010 06:00 AM

We have Harbor Freight in Appleton, but I am going down there right now and see about the blades. ;-)

brennalee 08-25-2010 06:37 AM

don't put that magnetic anywhere near your embrodiery machines or cards, I had a embrodiery card erased from putting it in my purse with a magnetic :(

charcrfts 08-25-2010 06:50 AM

When I was in HF Sat. and they were all out of the blades, the clerk told me they were getting a shipment in on Mon. with 8 pkgs. and to call on Tue. and have them held. So I called yesterday, and the gal that answered the phone says "we can't hold them!" My DH went there on his lunch break, since he works not too far from there, and bought them all for me!!!! I don't need that many, but I want to give them along with the suction cup handles for Christmas! Yay, I have a start on my Christmas shopping and a sharp blade in my rotary cutter! Life is good!!!! :D

Thank you for all the warnings about magnets & computerized machines. I was thinking getting a magnetic pin holder, but not anymore! Especially since my machine is in the repair shop and I have a loaner from Viking. I don't think they would like getting it back with the mother board magnetized! :(
