I've got a thousand scraps I am trying to get rid of, although I'm slow at following through. PM me with your info and they are yours! Hope you aren't in a hurry.

most fabric shops, even JOANNS have remnant bins. try looking there. occasionally there are scraps given and sold here on the board. just not lately. and there are fat quarter swaps here monthly I think. join up!

I am working on a very scrappy quilt and i was wondering if anyone has suggestions on how to get different scraps. The pieces I use are from four inches long down to one " and can be as small as one inch thick. To go to the fabric shop you have to buy 1/4 inch cuts and that just seems very expensive. I have a lot of scraps but would like to use different fabrics than what I have. Any help would be appreciated.

I also have alot of scraps and could send you some for the cost of postage. PM me if you need any more scraps.

Freecycle is another possibility. I have donated scrap bags to my local group.

I've seen sites where they offer a bag of Moda scraps, I think Keepsake Quilting has scrap bags, it would be worth checking it out. I always look at the remnant tables in shops, to see what I can use.

Almost any charity quilting group has scraps. There reaches a point in those groups where it is not efficient use of time to try to put every little piece of scrap donated or generated into a quilt. Join a group - any quilting group -- and you will find people to trade with or who will give you scraps.

I have donated scraps to Goodwill before. My Daughter goes through them first. I still have plenty, made about 7 or 8 quilts and am still making them. I just gave my Daughter more yesterday, she loves scrappies.
If you need scraps - just means you need to make more quilts. |
Oh I wish you wer closer.
I make dog beds from scraps and collect anything washable from everywhere. My sources right now are the quilting group I'm a part of and the local Thrift Shop. A lady there takes unsalable donated fabric and takes it home to make blocks etc from it. I get her scraps. After I've cut my squares and strips, then I stuff dog beds. So nothing is wasted. Right now I have four large totes/banana boxes to sort and cut. Will probably get a jelly roll or two and a showbox of charms and smaller. |
Pm me and I will send you some. I have way too much.
