omg I want the name of this pattern, please, please, please

loriea 03-22-2011 09:10 AM

Gorgeous, I'd use a black border.

honeygram15 03-22-2011 01:21 PM

I love your quilt. As soon as I saw it, I said "OHHHHHHHHH"

naperson 03-22-2011 02:06 PM

I loved the colors in your quilt. My suggestion would be to use an inter boarder of black about an inch wide(1 1/2" cut size) a second boarder of the various colors in the body of the quilt and than a black outer boarder. I just do not like a quilt without a boarder but know that is personnal preferrance. to me the boarders frame the work of art and set it off.

This is one beautiful quilt!! Have you thought of a black border, followed by squares in the colors set on point, and then another black border followed by black binding?

neeng 03-22-2011 04:37 PM

I agree.
A medium single colour border (I'd use black), with one of the brights for binding.

I think black would work.

pamabla 03-22-2011 07:11 PM

Add a solid black 4-6"border; this will frame your beautiful quilt and make it "pop". Adding more colors to the border would detract from your quilt, I think. You might want to "audition" your border to see which size looks best. Good luck.

I'd put a border around the same size as your main strip and then alternate some of your colors in 2" widths and various lengths and then add another black narrow border and bind it in the black. I've done several string quilts and really enjoy making them. Your quilts is outstanding!! What a great way to use up some of the scraps and get a wonderful quilt in the process.

I LOVE your quilt! Fantastic!!!

kitsykeel 03-22-2011 08:20 PM

I love this quilt pattern and the colors you have used are delightful. The blocks look like jewels. I wonder if you chose black and the color you want to really pop from the quilt for a border, something simple so as not to detract from the quilt itself.

Your quilt top is so pretty. The colors just sparkle!

I agree, I don't think it needs a border. It is beautiful as is.

This is what I was thinking also.

atvrider 03-24-2011 04:59 AM

I like the quilt just the way it is.

stitches_ia 03-24-2011 06:14 AM

My choice would be a black border, whatever size you decide, and a scrappy binding. I think you need the black border to set off the bright colors.

Ariannaquilts 03-24-2011 09:29 AM

Absolutely beautiful quilt, like GrandmK it inspires me to make one. I think the black or gray border would be great or leave as is. Just BEAUTIFUL!!!

It's beautiful. I'd use black border but some other colors in there too.

Some have suggested using a small piano key type border (1-2") plus then black. That's what I'd do.

But whatever you do would be nice. Just use black...not gray or something subtle. You've not been subtle with the colors up til now, so why would you start now at the border stage?

Anyway, did you sew down the black strips first down the middle of the block and then added the other strips?

I think it is beautiful too, and I'm saving your picture in my folder of quilts...:)

cowpie2 03-24-2011 10:28 AM

I would add a black border and then maybe bind in scraps from the colors used for a narrow outer color pop.

I didn't sew the black strips down first, I just pinned them and started sewing the color strips.

I second this. A deep black allows the colors to shine! :-)

Love the bright colors. The blocks look like jewels!

Small black tone on tone border would be nice.

cassiemae 03-24-2011 12:46 PM

BEAUTIFUL is all I can say the colors are gorgeous and I also would use a black border.

29cathie 03-25-2011 04:19 PM

And once again a UFO is launched.

suern3 04-08-2011 03:52 PM

IMHO, I think a simple black border would be perfect. Let the blocks shine!

sewingsuz 04-08-2011 08:25 PM

OMGosh, this is beautiful.

It's Beautiful, I love it.

sammygirlqt 04-08-2011 10:02 PM

Your quilt is beautiful and I love the vivid colors. I agree with those on a black border followed by a border using some of your colors from the blocks.

It is strange, I make string quilts and they all seem to be quite bright and no matter what outer border I use it still seems to need a final bright scrappy border.

Audition some of the great suggestions here and go with the one you like best.
