Well with a blizzard battering us in eastern Mass, and work getting cancelled for the first time since 1997, I am spending my day in my sewing room working on a couple of different quilts!

Who says adults do not get snow days!

Pretty soon, I'll have to shovel, but enjoying some me time for now!

Aully 01-12-2011 11:56 AM

Enjoy your quilting, stay warm! :)

Kooklabell 01-12-2011 11:58 AM

What is your storm totals where you are? I'm in Albany NY and we got about a foot, maybe a little less. My older daughter had a snow day and I haven't done a bit of sewing, fighting a sinus headache...not fun with a 11 year old and 2 year old running around...

fayza 01-12-2011 12:00 PM

I saw that Boston was on the today show, and you guys are really getting the snow! We have snow in eastern KY but nothing compared to whats going on with Boston, enjoy your snow days :)

gingerella 01-12-2011 12:00 PM

Watching this blizzard play itself out via the TV set, I am so pleased that I am now sitting in AZ sunshine contemplating the snowball blocks I am now in the process of making for my new quilt.

Being retired does have it's highlights!!

Pretty soon, I'll have to get some sun cream on, but for now, I'm enjoying myself !!! LOL

978gray 01-12-2011 12:02 PM

Right now we are at 18 inches and still snowing. It's pretty windy lots of areas have no power, but lucky here. I hope the power stays on.

LoisN 01-12-2011 12:12 PM

OMG. We got 5 inches and many schools in the area are out for a 2nd day. We'd be in for a week with 18 inches.

amma 01-12-2011 12:18 PM

Good to hear that you are enjoying your snow day :D:D:D

brushandthimble 01-12-2011 12:20 PM

Just got home from work, my streets are plowed to one lane only! There is a hugh tree down in my yard from the yard next door. I'm sure he will take care of it later, it is only on top of my shade garden. My guess is it will no longer be a shade garden:(

Driving was slow, slippery and WATCH OUT for the plows.

CarrieAnne 01-12-2011 12:23 PM

Stay warm!

honeybee_2000 01-12-2011 12:28 PM

tmg 01-12-2011 12:48 PM

We only got 4" and the schools are closed for the 3rd. day. I had to come into work because the roads were passable

Tinabodina 01-12-2011 01:02 PM

Lucky you! I work from home so there are no "Snow Days."

davidwent 01-12-2011 01:14 PM

It may be wishful thinking, but looking at the clock and looking outside it seems days are already getting longer (I hope) can spring be far behind??
David

rismstress 01-12-2011 01:18 PM

I am in Boston watching it continue to snow. Hard to drive and hard to walk in this stuff.
Power on here. Hope those without power get it soon. Stay warm.

Up North 01-12-2011 01:55 PM

Can you all send some to Northern Michigan? Seems you southerners are getting all our snow! Global Warming Ha! This is the season for snowmobiling and we only have a couple inches!! Not enough!!!

hobbykat1955 01-12-2011 02:48 PM

Here in upper Westchester of NY on the border of CT we got another 20 inches today...And I too sewed all day after digging out the car after the plow guy plowed our driveway and plowed in the car. I'm retired so I don't have to ever go out after 26 yrs of driving to wk in the snow, not missing it at all...

stitchingmemories 01-12-2011 05:32 PM

We got 8 1/2 inches on Monday and just today did the city sand/salt the our roads. We're in the city limits but in a rural area. We sit on the top of a ridge and we can't move until they sand. This weeks snow was the most we've had fall at one time since the '93 blizzard (that was over 20"). And we're in the south. haha

I hope you keep power and have tons of fun quilting.

Thought some might be interested in pictures!!!

We got at least 24". The yardstick varies from a low of 18" to a high of 32". Lots of blowing and drifting. Winds have died down and we kept our power.

Man oh Man I can only wish!! Can you send it this way we need some!!

natalieg 01-12-2011 06:39 PM

Take it easy there with all the snow. We moved to MT in 99. No matter what the snow is like, they still operate everything here. They haven't had a snow day at the schools in my town since 91! And, only two delayed start days because of snow since 99! the school busses in the next town wouldn't start one day a few winters ago (diesel froze)so they cancelled school in that town that day....

baglady65 01-12-2011 06:48 PM

We got about 4 inches here in Southeastern Michingan yesterday! Roads all cleared today!

978gray 01-12-2011 06:58 PM

Pretty much everything was shut down today. Tomorrow the city schools look to be closed, but many of the 'burbs seem to have delays.

Oh, I have to go back to work tomorrow, but it sure was fun having a snow day!!!

Sew and Sew 2 01-12-2011 07:03 PM

Schools here in TN are closed again tomorrow. About 6 inches of snow but it is now the cold temperatures that are keeping everyone home. Been sewing up a storm (pun) since the snow started, being retired has it's advantages. Hope things improve before the weekend Joann's and Hancock Fabrics is having a great sales. Got the flyers today.

GagaSmith 01-12-2011 07:19 PM

I hope everything is cleared by Sunday for the big football game. GO PATRIOTS!!!!!

fabric whisperer 01-12-2011 07:28 PM

Here in Ohio we got quite a few inches (about 9 inches earlier in my driveway, maybe more now), lake effect snow, but nothing new for our area... Love the snow! Happily staying warm after shoveling the car out... now inside sewing a test pattern, sipping hot chocolate while cutting pieces out :) It's still coming down here.

CathyQuilts4 01-12-2011 07:38 PM

My daughter lives in Scituate, MA. Her power was off for about 10 hours today. Back on now, thank goodness. I worry that I can't be there to help her.

Lostn51 01-12-2011 07:40 PM

All of my snow is gone on the roads and it is just left on the grass and trees. The temps are dipping into the single digits and only warming into the 20's here in west TN. I wish I had some that here right now I loved the 5" we got!! And even though my studio is only 30 feet from my back door I had a snow day too!!

Keep warm and enjoy the snow it will be summer befor you know it!!!

I declared it "a pajama day" no clothes only pajamas for the day. I went into my sewing room, in pajamas and sewed allll day. I did brush my teeth, took a shower that night and into clean pajamas. Repeat the next day. What fun! Today is back to reality Bah!

978gray 01-13-2011 03:15 AM
