We're definately past 10 commandments. I'm just proud some are mentioned I have yet to break. Early days yet, right?

As ya'll can see from my earlier post I break the most obscure of the commandments. The ones that I should've known not to do. Consequences of actions. You'd think I'd learn. There are some of the others that I've not broken! Yeah!

How bout this one?
Thou shalt not THINK thou hast cut a piece too small without first figuring out the SEAM ALLOWANCE of the piece it's fitting in with! AND thou shalt NOT recut without figuring these things out first!

NOT that I would ever have done that, of course.

Same thing with my Brother. I am going to call them on Monday and ask if it is possible to change it. I think their idea was to keep most of the seam fabric under the foot.

Oh my goodness, that was me getting so mad cause the machine wasn't working...ya after about 5 times of re-threading & calling the machine some not so nice names...it was me..imagine that...lol

Please let us all know if there is a way to change it! My Brother does the same and I have broken several needles. I don't think I would purchase another Brother if it is something that can't be changed!

12 stitches later .... and 6 weeks I couldn't quilt on my project!! And a year later, I have to try and find a bigger thimble because the scar prevents my thimble from fitting correctly now.

I injured my middle finger on my left hand. The under finger? It's the finger that I use under the quilt to feel how far the needle has gone through. (This is another example of me being stupid.) I got it stuck in the electric hedge clippers. 6 stitches! 5 yrs ago. For a while I had to use my ring finger under the quilt! If the needle touches the scar I don't feel it & get a bigger stitch. :-(
I don't envy you looking for another thimble!

I didn't want to throw away an electric can opener that went really SLOW. Ended up cutting the back of my middle finger, right hand, my quilting finger from knuckle to knuckle. It was ugly. I already used a large lip edged thimble, now to find an extra large and see if that fits.

When DS cut his thumb New Years Eve, we each agreed that it was easier to have our hands numbed than to watch someone you love have it done!! However having it done isn't easy at all either. He cut straight down from the top of his thumb through his thumbnail.

The right size thimble is critical. I couldn't use a thimble till I found the right one. I'm in between sizes. I had to find mine at a thrift shop! My Prayer is that you find one quickly!!

Funny! :) My main basic commandment is thou will add 1/2 inch for the seam allowances before cutting. I invariably forget and then yell at myself. Now my DH calls out repeatedly "add the 1/2 inch" whenever he sees that I am going to be cutting fabric. Gotta love him since he has saved me many times. :)

I have some too.

Thou shall select 1/4" seam whenever you turn on the sewing machine

Thou shall not nip yourself with the scissors when cutting threads

Thou shall NEVER NEVER be distracted when using the rotary cutter or you might cut your finger nail. Not the best way to clip your nails.

I think I have done most of these. I did do a lot of chuckling while reading this.

And its corollary: Thou shalt apply the rough side of the interfacing or fusible web to the fabric, and not to your ironing board or press cloth. Don't ask me how many times I've fused things to my press cloth.

It's my Brother CS6000i that has the Left side default. I just found another thread that says that on some Brother machines the default can be changed. Hoping mine is one of them!
