So who has had a sewing injury? I spent most of last night in the ER, i sliced part of my finger off with a rotary cutter :( Thats one lesson I don't think I will soon forget! LOL!

Did same thing in Aug '09. Sliced 2 fingers, index nearly off from 1st knuckle, middle just across corner. Still not back to anywhere normal. :x

I've done that before but I wouldn't go to the Er I just kept butterflying it shut. I'm stubborn. I needed stitches but I wouldn't go.

Oh yes... just recently... still don't quite know how I did this, but was happily snipping a thread and "snipped" the pad of my thumb... 6 stitches!! sigh... It has healed, but I'm scarred for life, I'm afraid. ha ha

Ouch! When I first began using a new machine, I hit the wrong button when I leaned around my machine. Instead of hitting the bobbin wind button, I hit the cut thread button. Oh boy, was that painful. The needle went all the way through my index finger and broke into two pieces when it hit the bone. I came in and gave my husband the needle nose pliers to pull the needle out. He was able to to pull the part that came out of the fingernail, but when he tried to pull the other end he kept pinching me with the end of the pliers. Finally, I took the pliers and pulled it out myself. I was lucky that I had just put in a new needle and so it was clean. It healed fine, but it was sore for more than a few days.

I think many of us have done that. I've also put my fingers too close to the sewing machine needle. Split the nail and nicked the finger. You don't forget that either!

I am scared to death of that! Bless your bones. I hope you heal quickly and easily and are back to sewing soon.

OUCH! I think we get too comfortable with our machines, cutters, scissors, etc... and then we set ourselves up for a catastrophy... myself included!

Sadiemae, I am cringing reading your story!! EEYYOOOOWWWW!

When I do hand quilting, don't know how, but I regularly drive the needle under the nail of my right thumb.
