I don't live in the city of Midland, but I do live in the county of Midland, hence, Greendale Township. I am about 15 miles west of downtown. Chippewa River Rd dead-ends at our driveway which is a long one.[/quote] I'm in Homer Twp I have a feeling were pretty close to each other. |

If I can pull this off I will post pictures but it will take time. I've been scrubbing for nearly a month now. Hard on the old arms and shoulders. Thanks again

Cakelsey,
I've been wondering how your sewing house is going? Did you get the roof on? Thank you so much for sharing your project with us. If I lived close by I would come and help! We once scrubbed, cleaned and painted a house that was attached by a hallway to a restaurant that burned. The firemen had broken in the door to check for occupants. The house wasn't burned, but the smoke from the other building damaged everything! We didn't live there then, but was able to get it for extremely low rent ($150/mo) because we cleaned & painted everything inside & out. The landlord was so happy about it that he never raised the rent in the 5 years we lived there! An out-of-state job required us to move. I said all that to tell you I know how much work it is to scrub and paint an entire house, hope all is going well. |

Carol,
How is your quilting house coming along? I can't believe it was so many months ago that you posted about this. Hope all is well ~ J |

Also when I hopefully get organized I had planned on putting vinyl or a clear shower curtain liner on the front of my bookcases to keep the dust off my fabric. Would this be okay? I would appreciate any advice you ladies could give me. Thank you Carol

Jbud2 and Craftybear, thanks for asking..I do finally have one working room in the house.I will try to attach a couple of pictures of the progress. I wound up putting sheers in front of all my bookcases and thread racks. I have a peg board on one wall. Hopefully will have more room to spread out when we get another room ready.

Humidity and darkness is the bigest enemy of fabic because mildew loves them both. Cloth curtains would be better to cover your material. Heater and air conditioner shouldn't do any damage at all. Aren't you the lucky one to have not just a room of ones' own but a whole house!!!!!!!
|
I heat my whole house (two story) with wood heat. We have duct work going into all the rooms and a contraption that my husband built to circulate the heat to the rooms. I have no trouble. BUT we do keep a large pot of water on the wood stove the whole time it is in use, keeps some moisture in the air.
My craft room is also cooled by a window ac unit. No problems at all. I agree with some of the others, cover the fabric with fabric, not clear vinyl. I think the vinyl might spot the fabric. Can't wait to see it all done. |

looks like it is coming along nicely! the only thing you will need is a sewing buddy, then let the good times roll!

I hadn't seen this post last year. What a tremendous amount of work. I have rental units and also wonder how people can live the way they do.
Congratulations. Soon you will be hosting your own little retreats and having your sewing buddies over. What a blessing. |

Congratulations on the house. It's coming along beautifully. The current sewing area looks like a dream area.

We have an Amish fire place (Adds in most papers in Fall) and we really like it. We were told that it heats only the air in a room and not furnishings. It works real good when used in one room. Sorry I didn`t see your sewing room.
