I have at least four of the rulers -- June Tailor Shape Cut, Shape Cut Plus, Shape Cut Pro, and the Stripology. The Shape Cut Plus is probably the most versatile for me and probably the most frequently used. Cost of the Plus is $30 on Amazon (not including shipping), so I think you got a great deal for $22.

I am in the minority, as I don't care for the Stripology ruler. I would use it if I didn't have the Shape Cut Pro, but I prefer the Shape Cut Pro if I need a big mat. I don't like the outer dimensions of the Stripology ruler as much as the Shape Cut Pro, and I also don't like the hardness of the Stripology mat or even its markings (which are visually confusing to me). I rarely use the large mats but, as someone else mentioned, they are useful if you have a lot of 2.5" strips of background to cut.

In terms of cutting, I have no trouble with the Shape Cut mats; my rotary cutter stays in the groove. I do try to be careful to hold my cutter straight up and down, but I try to pay attention to that with regular rulers also. I did have some slippage with the Shape Cut, similar to slippage I get with regular rulers, but I solved that by placing some Grip Strips underneath. I have tried many other grippers in the past (sandpaper dots, cut-to-measure plastic gripper liner, etc.) but the Grip Strips have worked by far the best for me. One package is enough for several rulers, as you don't need them on every edge and you can cut them to whatever length you want.

I use one of my June Taylor Shape and Cut rulers EVERY time I make a quilt. I love them. You got a good deal, and I don't think you will be disappointed in them. I have only been quilting for 7 years, but I thought I would have to quit after the first few quilts because I had so much trouble cutting the fabric out. I could not keep rulers from slipping.

The slits in the June Taylor rulers restored my confidence in my ability to cut out fabric. I honestly use mine every time I quilt, which is a lot.

I have the 18 inch ruler and a smaller one, maybe 12 inches? I use the small one more often, but that is just me. It fits better on my workspace.

I'd say unwrap them and use them. Follow the instructions, fold the fabric in fourths from selvage to selvage and use sharp rotary blades, and all will go well. There are probably youtube videos on how to use them, but if not, PM me if you need any help. I believe in them completely.

I bought the June Taylor (20?) years ago when it first came out. I use it so much it is practically worn out. But I love it. I use to use it to make quilts.....now I use my accuquilt die cutter, but I still use my June Taylor to chop up any extra leftover fabric into strips for storage to make strip scrap quilts. When it dies, I'll consider another brand. Thanks for the info on the other brands.

I have the June Taylor strip cutter both 1/2" n 1/8 " ones I use tge 1/2" every day, I cannot cut with out it! Not sure what the stripology is but will look that up if and when I need to replace the June taylor, I use it so much I'm on my 3rd one!

I have the Taylor Shape Cut also....outside of the fact that I have to place a small piece of green Frog tape (masking tape) at the top and bottom mark as a visual aid when cutting, I love mine. My attention span must be getting shorter or something!!

I use mine a LOT. I bought some "highlighter tape" that I can use to mark my cutting lines if I need to bulk-cut a bunch of stuff. I have a few friends I'm teaching quilting to, and this ruler is really popular and helpful for my newbies, too. I help them mark the ruler and then they can do all their cutting without a lot of fuss or mistakes. The tape peels right off when we're done.

I use mine a lot for squaring blocks as well. I square left & right, then turn the block 90 degrees and square top & bottom. Works great!

I also got the "pro" version that can cut 2-1/2" strips from WOF. I use THAT ruler a TON. I like turning my scraps into strips with it - goes very fast and then I have great homemade scrappy "jellyrolls" to play with.

I say definitely worth the price you paid.

I loved the June tailor shape cut until I got the CG stripology and hands down the stripology is much better I have both sizes and love them. To compare them the stripology is so much sturdier than the shape cutter. Thanks to June tailor for creating this kind of ruler cutter but thanks to CG for improving it. I have 2 sizes of shape cuts that I have no use for anymore.
