My Father use to race pigeons. I embroider and scrapbook.

mrs. fitz 03-13-2011 07:55 PM

I tap dance.

My father raced pigeons too. I have happy memories of my dad and Uncle Pete enjoying competing from our rooftop when we lived in New York City many years ago.

What an amazing bunch of people! I love this board! I love to quilt, but it is a relatively new passion. Reading, writing, and horseback riding I would consider my hobbies, but I also love photography, cooking, baking, and hiking. I know how to crochet but don't do it much...my mind wanders and I lose count. I also like to do hand embroidery. This has been a fun 'getting to know you' thread. Thanks for starting it. :-)

Xstitch, Crochet

montanajan 03-13-2011 09:27 PM

Horses, garden, cross stitch, read, hike, camp, Bible Study, time with grandsons, aerobic exercise in water (arthritis), minimal amount of making own cards, - is that enough?

tgm sewing kitty 03-13-2011 09:29 PM

I knit, read, rubber stamp, embroider....not necessarily in that order. In summer months we love to grill outside & just sit out & have a big glass of ice tea & grilled hamburger.

tgm sewing kitty 03-13-2011 09:29 PM

Those are pretty!

KarenCG 03-13-2011 09:31 PM

I like to knit and crochet while watching tv programs

I do wood working with my husband, do alittle crocheting and I use to oil paint and I want to get back in that plus quilting. I work 32 hr. in two days so I have the week off to do what ever I want.

would love to see your suffed animals. I also have a passion for them.

rudderjt.
interested to read about your civil war re enactment. My Son, Daughter and Son in law are into Medieval re enactment in a big way. They make all their own weapons and costumes. I make all their banners and tent back drops.
They did a trip to the U.S. year before last for a Medieval convention.

Spring, summer & autumn, gardening. When I first retired 12 years ago, it was genealogy which took up a lot of time. It's at the point now where I've solved most of the mysteries so I'm trying to compile all the information now into some kind of interesting form.

CarrieAnne 03-14-2011 03:09 AM

Weaving and rug hooking, some cooking

Beth Dishong 03-14-2011 05:35 AM

I love to scrapbook, make cards, rubber stamping but, needless to say I can't seem to make time for all of my hobbies. I do one for a while then move on to one of the others and so on. Right now I am so into Quilting that I don't know when I will move on to the other hobbies again.

anima57 03-14-2011 05:53 AM

r-jet, most are given away as soon as done or when they find a home but I have a couple in pattern making stage! nice to hear from someone else. have a lovely dragon pattern (not original to me) that I want to make for myself and maybe get my daughter to show me beading for whiskers and stuff but I have not been able to find the right fabrics.

pumpkinpatchquilter 03-14-2011 06:22 AM

Gardening is my other passion, and as a matter of fact now that spring is almost here I soon won't be touching my sewing machine at all until next fall because I'll be to busy digging in the dirt! ;)

grugirl 03-14-2011 06:24 AM

I woodcarve, raise, breed and hatch chickens and ducks and garden up a storm here on our small hobby farm. I also love to Four-Wheel on my Quad.

I love that you make your own laundry soap. How do you do it? A basic summary? We are going to be making our own cheese and soap one day and are considering Bees.

Crafty Chick 03-14-2011 06:52 AM

My favorite hobby right now is quilting, but after that comes sewing my own clothes, cross stitching, reading, oil painting, cooking (love to try out new recipes), gardening and singing.

Love your creativity! Well done.
I did post pictures of some mosaics, with no response at all.
Here's some more.

Jennalyn 03-14-2011 06:57 AM

The colors in your 'Welcome' mosaic are just /stunning/! My absolute favorite combo. Wow. Your work is so beautiful and detailed!

Somebunny 03-14-2011 07:05 AM

I love to knit and crochet, I do stained glass occasionally, started ceramics and having fun with it, made a trout splashing out of the water after a fly mounted to a piece of driftwood. I also rock and gold hunt/collect, bead work occationally. Mostly I love to quilt right now, but glad I have these othe hobbies!

I love to ride my motorcycle, do scrapbooking and knitting but now with my new found hobby of quilting, I don't have alot of time for scrapping and knitting. Just waiting for some warm weather to get my bike out!

DeniseP 03-14-2011 07:07 AM

I also crochet, knit, read, cook, garden (when the ground isn't frozen) and hand embroider.

anima57 03-14-2011 07:10 AM

mosaics--I thought I posted but must have glitched. they are gorgeous. I am amazed at taking disparate pieces of porcelain and glass and making objects that look like they came that way, like they were clearly Meant to be that way. very precise work as well.

traders of the lost art 03-14-2011 07:12 AM

Thank you. It's nice to hear.
It was a special order for a ladies house, and she
loved it.
