She has arrived!!!!

My machine arrived last night. I got her set up on the frame and that's about it......lol
I was so tired yesterday from cleaning the house and dismantling Kola's bed......haha
We had two guys here doing some concrete work and one of them took the bed home for his kid.

Even though the mattress is in great shape, Goodwill won't take it and it would have been a total waste to send it to the landfill.

Anyways........Back to the machine. Set up was easy I have her threaded and the bobbin case installed. I put the handle on, it has a speed control dial, very primitive but it's what I wanted. Less parts to break down and crash like the computer models. They packed it very well, rigid insulation and the machine was attached to plywood cut outs for stability while being shipped.

Perhaps tomorrow I can load up a practice quilt (aka muslin ) and practice my meandering stitches. I have 2 and 1/2 quilts ready for the frame. The 1/2 one is still on the design wall waiting to be finished.

The last picture is Kola wondering where her bed is. :) I replaced it with a chair and her sleepy spot from the study.

Have fun with your new machine! It all looks nice in the space. Kola looks like she might need a new bed - samller of course.

Congrats! I surely can tell that you are very excited. A Bailey's is on my bucket list. Please post how easy it is to use.

liont 06-13-2012 08:59 AM

So happy for you! Have fun :)

annthreecats 06-13-2012 09:35 AM

Love your new machine. Don't worry about Kola, she'll adjust. Have fun quilting.

cowgirlquilter 06-13-2012 09:41 AM

How wonderful!! I have been looking at these machines, and am wondering: which frame did you get?

crafty pat 06-13-2012 09:43 AM

I am so happy for you. Now you can have fun and play. Happy quilting.

kountrykreation 06-13-2012 09:46 AM

CONGRATS!! I like my Bailey! Only wish I would have paired it up with the wooden frame, as you did. The Grace Start Right frame seems to have to many plastic parts that tend to break. Have fun with your Bailey!!!

I bought the frame off of CL a few months ago. It is this one....

I like the wood frame, so does Kola. I think she will eventually discover it makes a good scratching post....lol
Then I will have to wrap it in foil.

Jim's Gem 06-13-2012 02:22 PM

How exciting!!! I hope you have a great time with your new toy!!!!

alisonquilts 06-13-2012 02:59 PM

Congratulations!

I suspect that Kola will find her "new bed" right around the time you have a quilt loaded up and taut in that frame...sure will be cosy! *purr purr purrrrr*

Alison

Congratulations and enjoy!

Maresan 06-13-2012 04:19 PM

Congrats and good luck. By the way, love the wallhanging on the wall.

Alison

She has been with us since she was an egg. :) I know her sleeping habits well. I have learned to place a sheet over my work. Same goes for anything in the frame and ready to go. A sheet will be covering it when I am not in there.

quiltjoey 06-13-2012 08:41 PM

Congratulations on your new "lady"!!

ScubaK 06-13-2012 09:23 PM

Oh WOW!!!
That is a beaut!!!
I have to pick your brain about it and see how you like it, as I am getting ready to upgrade!!!
I'm just down the street aways ;) if you need some tops to practice let me know...

Looks like a great machine, I am sure you will have many happy and creative hours together (which in turn will keep Kola happy). By the way, the quilt with the fish design you have on your wall is beautiful.

Wine Woman 06-13-2012 10:33 PM

Congratulations! I feel the excitement! I can't wait to hear how it's going and see the quilted quilts!!

Thank you, I made that last year. I found the template and pattern at JoAnn's.

Kola is a great pal, she spends time with me in my sewing room. We call the room the LA is in , "The Annex".
And thank you very much for the compliment on my fish quilt.

0tis 06-14-2012 03:08 AM

Can't wait to see your progress - you must feel like a child at Christmas who just opened the "big" package. Have fun.

quiltnut4ever 06-14-2012 03:29 AM

Congrats on your new machine! I wish I could have one but I don't have the room! Enjoy!

coopah 06-14-2012 04:28 AM

Enjoy the new machine. Hope kitty adjusts...my two kitties "lived" in an old car my husband was restoring.Took him 10 years! LOL You're going to have such fun stitching with a kitty to keep you company!

Chay 06-14-2012 04:57 AM

Wow. Every time I see one of those I have a huge fantasy about getting one and being able to do all the wonderful things that I can't do on my regular sewing machine. I hope you have a blast with it and many happy hours of quilting!

gramacheri 06-14-2012 05:20 AM

I am so excited for you! I will be getting mine in about a month so I will be right there with you. Have FUN! Isn't that what it's all about??

CarrieC 06-14-2012 05:25 AM

WOW this is GREAT! And if Kola is like my Caruso - his bed is the bed of the frame. I actually have to be careful that he isn't on (under the layers after I get it set up) it snoozing.

sylviak 06-14-2012 05:47 AM

I have the Hinterberg Stretch frame and I really like it. Congratulations on your new machine! Have fun playing with it. Moving the machine rather than the fabric takes some getting used to, but it sure is fun! If you have problems, just post and there is a lot of help here.

Caswews 06-14-2012 05:52 AM

oh my goodness .. you will have so much fun with it ! Enjoy !! Love da kitty pic for sure !!

amandasgramma 06-14-2012 06:09 AM

AWESOME! Hope you have as much fun with it as I have with mine!

jamsbuying 06-14-2012 06:22 AM

Enjoy! Let us see pictures of your quilts.

Is that a Bailey? Mine arrived about two weeks ago. Now just waiting for the Gracie Queen frame to come. Mine is only the 13" model because that is all I could afford at this time, but I figure that is all I need. I only got it to do my own quilts but now a friend of my daughter's wants me to do a couple of quilts for her. I only plan on starting out with the stippling method because I have never machine quilted before and thought that would be the easiest thing for me to do. I know that I could never be as good as Charisma but that is ok for me. Have fun. Can't wait to start using mine.

urgodschild2 06-14-2012 08:35 AM

I have to laugh about poor Kola and I too suspect that she will be sleeping on the quilts with the sheet cover on the machine. My cat thought it was great fun to sit on my quilts in the oval standup quilt frames and I had to keep a sheet over it too.

We decided to get this machine for my personal use. And I too am going to use the stippling stitch for a while until I get the hang of it. It has a laser stylist so when I get brave I can get a little fancier with my stitches.

She seems to sleep where ever she pleases. I am sure the quilt I will be working on at the moment she decides to pass out will be her current "favorite" spot.

Have fun while beening creative. Please post some of your work and let us know if it is easy to use.

Congrats! I, too, was admiring the fish quilt. I have done a quilt for my mom and now am doing a baby quilt on my LA... There is just not enough hours in the day.....practicing is smart....I need to do that as well! Good Luck and have lots of fun!

needles3thread 06-14-2012 08:12 PM
