Has anyone had a problem with www.fabric.com? My first order came with no problems. I really loved the fabric. My second order is a nightmare. Ordered and they were short 2 and 1/2 yards. Replied to email by calling and picking another fabric same price for the shortage. Get another email stating the try to charge me and it didn't go thru. NOW WAIT my order was $44.81 and was applied on initial order, what do they need to charge me again for? They say I owe a penny, making it $44.81. Called and spoke to them, they need my card number again. This woman now applies another $11.97 against my card not the penny. Call back and I am told they will charge another $43.?? can't rember the cents, when they ship ,which the order was ready to ship this morning. The shipping is free when your order is $35.00 So far the order still has not shipped! The monies have been applied against my card now for more than double what my cost actually was! I 'm I the only one who beleives I have been scammed on this order?

EllaBud 04-01-2010 05:39 PM

I just received an order (my first) from Fabric.com and didn't have any problems with it. The only thing that I noticed when I opened the box was that all the fabric was shoved into a large white garbage bag that wasn't sealed. The fabric wasn't neatly folded at all. I mean, what if it had rained and the box was wet? All the fabric would have been a real mess.
Whoever is doing their packing leaves much to be desired. But, at least, I did think that their fabric was of high quality.

None of these were good experiences. So sorry to hear that. I hope you can get that billing problem fixed soon.

twistedsheets 04-01-2010 05:49 PM

And the other sad fact is this is a netspend prepaid card which you load money too so it's not a regular bank card account, I thought this would protect me from this by the fact you can't take more than whats on the card. I had been putting together another order I was going to get from them, but obviously that won't happen since they got that money too!

I informed them I was going to put this experience on quilting sites I am on and see that people are aware of what they are doing. And was basically told GO AHEAD SO WHAT!!

quilting_lady 04-01-2010 05:59 PM

Thank You! I was thinking about placing an order along with some other people who sew, but after your info. we WON'T now or ever!

CAROLJ 04-01-2010 06:06 PM

Tat's not good. I buy almost all my fabrics off line.

CajunQuilter2 04-01-2010 06:12 PM

You may want to get with Ditter43 here on the forum, she posted problems with them as well. Hmmmm, sounds like something is really going wrong there. Thanks so much for the heads up with this.

MaryStoaks 04-01-2010 06:34 PM

I just sent them an email and said that you belong to a very large quilting group who will no longer buy from them, THATS WHAT.

sharon b 04-01-2010 06:44 PM

I know a couple years (?) ago they got bought out by a larger company... wonder if that is part of the problem. Seems the bigger they get the less they care

Sad, but true.

My boyfriend and long time companion, who I used to team drive with is arranging with his company to go to Georgia with a load . He plans to take this up with them in person. Will keep you informed how this turns out!

He is in Nebraska now and I have sent all my emails and order info to his email account so he can print out and show someone in charge all that is going on along with my netspend account and the charges they made! 2 of his family members are U.S. Marshalls this may help!

Is there a way to inform the card company and let them try to help? That is so... not right!Keep us informed.

twistedsheets 04-02-2010 09:03 PM

I have spoken to the card company. A prepaid card doesn't have all the perks of a regular card. As I said , you can only get what is actually on the card and no more. They have cancelled the card and issuing another , will take about 2 weeks to get.At a cost of $9.95 to reissue one.My bf is on his way to Georgia with a load and will stay on top of this. After receiving another email today from UPS, stating they had a tracking no. for this order, I received a second email stating this tracking no and parcel pick up had been cancelled and to contact the shipper as to why. my card was again charged for $44.77 also today. Which is why the card was cancelled , they had depleted the money I was gonna use for future orders. According to the site this evening now this order has now been shipped ,( WE WILL SEE) and it was shipped standard shipping which was free because the order was over $35. So far however I have been charged 3 times what my order totaled maybe more!! I quit drinking over 10 yrs ago, but I am seriously thinking it may be cheaper to take that up again rather than play with online stores!

twistedsheets 04-02-2010 09:14 PM

You may ask why I shopped online. My mom 78 yrs old and a stoke victim , toatally bed ridden, and I can only leave the apt maybe 30 minutes at a time, for fear she will have another breathing attack or stroke. Minutes mean life for her. My neighbors think charging big money to watch her is not a crime, and then things disappear while I am out at a store. Of course it was not them! So this is no longer an option the cost or missing things, .I have had to replace insurance papers twice and an I>D is still missing of hers. Unfortunately I have the most unscrupulous neighbors you could have. But that is another thing. Oh well WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND THEY SAY

luvrazz 04-03-2010 06:30 AM

Sorry to hear about your problem...
A couple of weeks ago I purchased fabric online at Spider's Web Fabric and when I got the order it was missing a piece of fabric 2 1/2 yds... I called them and they apoligized and shipped the missing piece with no charge... Now that is CUSTOMER SERVICE...

nannya54 04-03-2010 07:00 AM

I hate to be the opposite since everyone is on such a roll but..... I have been ordering from Fabric.com for years and only once had any problem. They sent the wrong fabric. I called and discussed this with the customer service rep, who found what I had ordered and agreed they had made a mistake. Their policy was to ask for me to either use the fabric they sent by mistake on something else or donate it to a church group that quilts and they would be sending me the correct fabric. I got the right stuff in the mail with in days. No charge, no hassle, no problem. I'm sorry others have been having problems but I'll certainly continue using them.

Yes. I just ordered from fabric.com for the 1st and last time. There was a yard of flannel - unexpected, since the web site hadn't indicated.

tattoonana13 04-03-2010 08:40 AM

Make sure you all read my comments(from Tattoonana) on all this...I've had a fun time with them this week. Hal Genter is the customer service rep I dealt with...was trying to fix "all" the problems...I don' think there's enough time in the world for them to get that done! I will NOT be doing any more business with them.
Gail

It would be very frustrating. But drinking costs much more than that and it can kill you and destroy you.
So stick with online shopping ok?:)
CONGRATULATIONS ON QUITTING THE DRINKING SO LONG AGO!

I hope this all works out for you in the end. :-D

memereof8 04-03-2010 03:19 PM

I have been buying from Fabric.com for quite a while. Never had a problem. Just love their cheap known brand fabrics

Rose Lee 04-03-2010 03:37 PM

I have never had problems with Fabric.com, that is the only ones I order from and so far, I have been lucky. Maybe someone has to report each and every oversight on their part as with todays economy, there is lots of theft going on . Just a thought.

twistedsheets 04-03-2010 03:40 PM

I ordered 10 yrds of the red christmas village that was on sale . LOVED IT! came nicely rolled in box. WAS IMPRESSED! Ordered second time had 6 yrds left it stated and ordered along with 7 yrds of broadcloth. Thats when this began They were short the xmas print. had 1 1/2 pc 1 yrd pc and 1 yrd peice . called them and substituted another for the 2 and half shortage another same price this was on3/28 YES I have been calling them right along every time I get email. Site finally says it shipped last night. However ther was no reason to keep debited my card for all these charges. since when does 44.80 become lets charge another 11.97 then 43.78 and then finally another 44.77 I only have one order not 4

twistedsheets 04-03-2010 03:43 PM

To top this off it was all the charges I was really peed off about and all they did was song and dance me. That is not professional now is it a way to RUN A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS!!

Tink's Mom 04-03-2010 03:54 PM

Well, I just placed an $83 order this morning...I order on a fairly regular basis. Never had a problem...yet. Will see how this works out....

twistedsheets 04-03-2010 04:37 PM

Let us know. Taking $50 I transferred to another card I have and play some slots on line . Maybe I can make up my loss on that order, Fingers Crossed!

sewin'sam 04-03-2010 06:06 PM

I have ordered fabric from other sites & have been disappointed but not 'scammed' for money as you have !!! I'd be having a 'screaming FIT' if someone did that to me!!
I'd make sure I got my money BACK! That's FRAUD, to take your money for something you didn't get!? I have gotten fabric that, once I removed the WIDE selvedge, was only 41 inches wide & I was short for the back of my quilt! Also, have had bad colors. My orders from Joann's online have been good. course, I only order from their sales!

Suse 04-03-2010 07:00 PM

Wow, I guess I won't be ordering anything from them. Sorry to hear what happened to you.

tattoonana13 04-03-2010 08:22 PM

I'll let you all know what happens with my latest mistake from them hopefully Monday since they're not there during the weekends...

zz-pd 04-03-2010 09:53 PM

so sorry you are having this problem, and keep up the good work on not drinking, my hubby has been sober for 4 years now, not only did his drinking affect him but it affected all of us, it has been a blessing to have him sober. Penny

Jeri6 04-04-2010 12:43 AM

Let us know what happens. If they think it doesn't matter about you belonging to a large group like this they are wrong! It is good that we share experiences good or bad and it can make a difference on if we order from those companies.

My suggestion is to contact your credit card company and tell them the problem. They will take care of it.

Edti: Oops sorry, I had skipped the page where the card was discussed. My apology. I hope you get this straightened out fast. Perhaps contacting the company once more speaking to someone else. And put on a pot of coffee or tea and relax.

memereof8 04-04-2010 06:48 AM

I don't know if anyone has noticed that we are being cheated by our fabric manufacturers. Patterns are being upgraded using a less wide fabric, which does add up when buying fabric for a queen or king size quilt. Just because quilting is very popular, does not mean that they can take us for a ride. Most fabrics are made in countries where wages are very very low.

Mary Alice 04-04-2010 08:40 AM

I think you should be speaking to the manager of the company. It never hurts to ask for him/her.
It is unforgiveable what has happened and should be straight forward to correct the error.

CraftsByRobin 04-04-2010 09:48 AM

I would also complain with the Better Business Bureau ...

twistedsheets 04-04-2010 11:40 AM

the bright side my batting from Joanns is at the P.O. Will go get tomorrow. Need to hurry and make a quilt for my bed. My pets have finally distroyed my store bought flannel one. Making mine with that fun and done method and one for my mom, cause I need them in a hurry!! I will call fab.com on monday and see if this time I can get a manager of some kind, will go back and look at names already posted on site and see what comes of it. If I get no satisfaction that way will call the D.A and see what they suggest.

marla 04-04-2010 12:08 PM

That is scary!!!!!!!!!! I will take them off my list. It is difficult to see the color and print size on line anyway so i will stick to visiiting quilt shops.

Ramona Byrd 04-04-2010 04:32 PM

Start thinking about putting in a "Nanny Cam" for
when you are absolutely forced to leave the place.
Also, lock any door inside the apartment that does
not need to be open.

Many years ago we had to do that in another state
where we were stationed in the AF.

twistedsheets 04-04-2010 05:09 PM

Thank you! Actually I put up a camera with a vcr to record and replaced bedroon doorknobs with with lock keyed doorknobs. I actually have it so I can see if my mom is in distressed when I am laying down. but it looks to the kitchen and small hall to bathroom. Due to her condition she is set up in the f/r for easy access for EMT'S and ambulance. This is a small place, by some standards.
