should i keep going question

1 Attachment(s)
I saw a "new" pattern that I wanted to test out before i cut into my good fabric so I am using scraps for it. I was wondering if I should keep going or not. what do you guys think? I attached a pic of it so far. I don't have a pattern for it but it is a labyrinth pattern I saw in a fabric catalog. that is why i thought i would try it out first with scraps so i could test the size of the blocks. what do you guys think? should i keep going? there is another round of blocks that I would need to do to finish it.

Stitchnripper 03-23-2012 05:26 AM

It looks good to me - nice looking scraps. Do you not like working with the pattern?

quiltyfeelings 03-23-2012 05:29 AM

definitely keep going. obviously the "scrappy" will make a nice table topper!

Nancy Ingham 03-23-2012 05:29 AM

I love it and love your scraps......yes keep going!

Delta 03-23-2012 05:32 AM

yes yes yes pls finish. you put the work into it and it is wonderful.

pacquilter 03-23-2012 05:43 AM

I'd keep going! You'll have a really nice little quilt, and be able to use some of your scraps in the process.

mighty 03-23-2012 06:16 AM

Yes finish it is real pretty!

KimmieH 03-23-2012 06:17 AM

absotootley keep going!

QuiltE 03-23-2012 06:27 AM

Looks like a nice spring quilt or table topper or wall hanging or baby quilt or or or?

You've gone that far, so why not finish it up?
And then onwards to your "real" fabric, once you have the "practice" one done!

Have you decided what you're going to put in the centre yet?

cheryl222 03-23-2012 06:29 AM

Love it! Keep it going.

sahm4605 03-23-2012 07:10 AM

I am just putting the green fabric of the points in the center. I am just wondering if I should finish it up here or continue with the next round of squares. Thanks for the comments. I can't wait to start the next one in this pattern. It is going to be in batiks.

nativetexan 03-23-2012 07:26 AM

the medium blue could be more medium. it doesn't contrast quite enough but keep going. that is a great pattern

Krisb 03-23-2012 07:57 AM

If you feel that you have the pattern figured out with what you've done already, you could just finish it and it would be a very nice wall hanging or throw as it is, if you don't want to add another round of blocks, you wouldn't need to.

QuiltnNan 03-23-2012 07:59 AM

i would definitely keep going. you're doing a great job... can't believe you don't have a pattern :)

barny 03-23-2012 08:12 AM

Yes, keep going. Your good stuff is brighter probably and it will be really pretty. As this one is. I don't see how you can just look at a pattern and do it. I can hardly have a pattern and do it.ha.

Mazda 03-23-2012 08:13 AM

keep sewing!

I like it. Please continue and make sure we see the next steps. Keep what you have for a table topper or something.

There's not a lot of contrast but remember this is just a sample to see if she really likes the pattern.

It's simple squares and triangles. Why use a pattern?

CoyoteQuilts 03-23-2012 08:38 AM

Keep going....

Linnie 03-23-2012 08:40 AM

Keep going. It looks great

jcrow 03-23-2012 08:42 AM

I absolutely love stars!! I love your fabric. Do you have more of it or do you have to use different fabric for the next block? I would at least make a runner out of this, at the least. If it were me, I would go ahead and make a quilt out of it. You seem like you know what you are doing.

This was my thought when I saw it in the catalog. I am probably doing it wrong based on directions but who cares as long as it comes out looking the same.

Jammin' Jane 03-23-2012 10:20 AM

Absolutely! It looks wonderful! :)

blondeslave 03-23-2012 11:19 AM

I really like it!

pls1946 03-23-2012 11:28 AM

I would finish your "scrap" one that is pictured just as it is,with the center block, of course, and move on to your "good fabric" this will be a good little table topper or candle mat or wall hanging, depending on the size. You have done very well so far!

sew1 03-23-2012 11:40 AM

Looks great from here. Definitely finish and post pics for us. Scrappy fabrics look good in this.

Jingle 03-23-2012 11:52 AM

If you think you have it figured out, then do the one you have planned and come back and make another using scraps. It would make a great scrappy.

Not everyone has a lot of experience as you have. Patterns are great for telling inexperienced quilters what size to make all the pieces.

alisonquilts 03-23-2012 01:56 PM

Definitely keep going! I must say, you have awfully nice scraps...

nativetexan 03-23-2012 02:17 PM

oh a sample. of course, then it works well so go ahead and make one "for real". I love that pattern.

Mariposa 03-23-2012 02:20 PM

Do keep going! Please show pics when it is finished! Like your fabrics used too~

joyce888 03-23-2012 03:11 PM

Very nice, I actually made one from a pattern.

EvelynJ 03-23-2012 05:00 PM

Go for it. The scraps are working wonderful for you. Then do it with the "real" fabric and put the pictures on for us to see please.

Elaine433 03-24-2012 03:51 AM

I have done that before. Keep going, you will be glad you did. It is sort of like a free extra quilt. Yours makes a great
table topper.

Vanogay 03-24-2012 04:09 AM

I have finished two of the Labyrinth quilts. One is for my quilt partner in Australia. If you go to the search box and type in Quilt Swap Spoiler for Lynnie25, you'll see that one. As a matter of fact, my other is on my bed right now! ENjoy your process, I really enjoy putting them together.<!-- END TEMPLATE: navbar_link -->

sewnbug 03-24-2012 04:12 AM

It's very pretty. I'd keep going if I were you.

labtechkty 03-24-2012 04:12 AM

Wow..I love it...keep going....it's going to be a keeper...

MaryAnnMc 03-24-2012 04:19 AM

You have done this much work, you might as well finish it or you've wasted time and fabric! If you don't want it when it's finished, I know a place you could find someone to adopt it. ;o)

lpsewing 03-24-2012 05:26 AM

very nice,keep going !
