I looked at the one with the 1/4" increments and decided not to get it because it is just too narrow. A few weeks ago, I got the Shape Cut Plus (12" x 18") and really love it. Walmart had the Shape Cut and Half & Quarter Square rulers on clearance, so I bought a spare of each.
You asked "is it just that wonderful?" My answer is a resounding, "YES!!!!!" I rarely use any other ruler. |

I'm a big fan of ripping vertical because of having that wave too many times to count. I've looked at the shapecut video and am impressed. I didn't know you could cut shapes with it. But will i still get the dreaded wave? |

The one with 2 1/2" slots is my favorite. I also have the other 2 with 1/2" increments and love them.

I have one but like my Quilt Cut a lot better. I found that I ended up making wavey cuts.

This thread is just too funny for me. I have the SHAPE CUT and the FRINGE CUT rulers and never really used them cuz I didn't know how. Today I watched the video's and have now dragged them out from behind a bookcase; I'm sure I bought them several years ago, this isn't the first time I have bought something and never used it. Thanks for the information.

I LOVE mine I have 4 different kinds.

Why rulers with slots instead of just cutting along the edge of a "normal" ruler.

I have the slot ruler and never knew how to use it. Watched several of her videos. Thanks, I'll start using it now.

Sounds like quite a few of us learned something new today

WHOO Hooo stopped at Joannes and they have all quilting rulers etc 50% off,. so got mine and will try it tonite.

I can't live without mine! Have two of the standard size with half inch slots. I also have a third one that I dropped and broke then salvaged with duct tape because its like throwing away an old friend! I still use it sometimes. LOL. I also have the 1/4 cut which I don't care for very much. Its just as easy to shift the standard over half a notch to cut 1/4 or 3/4 measurements, and it's not big enough for much of the stuff I make. Last week I treated myself to the large one and I'm like a kid of Xmas. The Shape Cuts are also invaluable for straightening blocks before setting them into rows, and for resizing HST,as well as cutting blocks or strips. Three things I can't live without... Coffee, chocolate and my Shape Cuts. :o)
|
Several years ago, my DH got me one for Christmas. THE best present I ever got from him.
|
It is heaven for squaring up blocks!

If it is the June Tailor Shape Cut ruler, it is the real thing and a great tool to have. I use mine anytime I need to cut strips. First one I got was the 12", then I got the 1/4" one, and now I have the 18" one. Love them all.

But will i still get the dreaded wave? perfect cuts without the wave everytime?? I'm afraid ti jinx myself, but thus far I have not, and I hope I don't because I wouldn't know what to do if I did!! |
I have all the sizes and the circle cutter too I love them
|
Love, love, love it.

I really like the idea of this ruler but have a question... I've read on the boards here and a few blogs that it's best to use the same brand of rulers through the entire project to guarantee the same accurate measurements from start to finish. Will using this ruler for strip piecing at the beginning throw off the entire project if you own a different brand of rulers?
I would love to fix my problem of wavy strips! That's my biggest frustration in quilting right now, my inability to cut straight strips. lol |
I bought one when they first fcme out. I really got in a mess when cutting 2-1/2" Somehow I got in the wrong slots a few times and really messeed up big time.
