After seeing the slotted ruler on Quilt in a Day, I went ahead and got one at Joannes for around $11.
I used it finish cutting the borders forth baby quilt I'm making, and I love it!!! Im wondering though, it seems to be a "too good to be true" kind of thing. Is it? Or is it just that wonderful!? Lol |
I have 2. Love them for accuracy!
It is just that wonderful :D:D:D
I love mine, I want the big one.:)
I love mine. No longer have the bend in the middle of the cut strips
Are you talking about the Shape Cut by June Taylor? If so I love mine. I don't know how I would get along without it. If your not - I would love to know what you are talking about.
I find that it works very well! Love it!
I love mine. I can't even start a quilt without it!
I purchased a machine that cuts strips, then purchased the ruler. I only use the rulers now LOVE them. BrendaK
Love mine too!
I use my smallest one almost constantly. It works great to square up pieced blocks. Not too good to be true in my opinion. I have now boughten other sizes too.

Love, love, love!

Tell me more. Tell me more. I don't know what this ruler looks like. I'm curious.

Hello, fellow Winston.
I have three of them - - 1/2" increments in both a 12" and 18" length and 1/4" in a 12" length. I love, love, love both 1/2" increment sizes. However, do not care so much for the 1/4" increment because you have to fold your fabric so many times for it to work. Don't know why June Tailor did not make it as wide as the 1/2" increment. They are particularly great for cutting multiples of strips if you don't have a die cutter. KathDavis - you should do a Google search for June Tailor Shape Cut Ruler or go to this site for more information: http://www.junetailor.com/videos.htm |
I only have one but I love it....
Love mine -- I have the 12" and the 18" with the 1/2" increments. Did not buy the one with the 1/4" for some reason they targeted that at making fleece fringe and did not think anyone would want the full width.
It really helps with the cutting. |
Oh I'm so glad!! Lol. Yes I'm talking about the June Tailor one. Mine goes 1/2 increments and up to12 inches. I am so excited to cut now! Lol!
I think I have them all but I especially love the one that cuts 2 1/2 strips!
Wow! I have one of those rulers and have been using it all wrong. In fact, I gave up using it. Now that I have been enlightened, it will come out of the deep, dark corner of the closet I stored it in.
Thank you! |
People in my quilt group are so amazed that I can cut 5 or 6 strips for binding in less than a minute....no cutting and moving the ruler....no calculation....just a good clean cut, quickly. I love mine.

the June Taylor slotted rulers, yes I have one, love it

I love mine too! It's so handy!
I love mine so much that I won't look at patterns that don't call for fabric cut in 1/2" increments. I know I can cut 1/4"s, but not repeats.
I'm going to get one tomorrow. Can't wait! Thank you for the post!
OMG! I have two of them in my rack. I thought they were just for fringe. I can't wait to cut me some strips. Thanks so much for sharing.
I have one and I love it, always using it. :)
Thanks so much for the link to the videos, I have to have one of these rulers!! They are fantastic.
I have one of each and love them all! I use them constantly.

Yes, they are just that wonderful!!!! Very accurate and make for fast strip and square cutting. I also have the Half Square Triangle ruler and LOVE it! I get perfectly accurate HST's! Can't say enough. If you don't have a slotted ruler, use your next Joann's coupon for it. It is money well spent.
Cool videos!! Apparently mine can do the 1/4 cuts too. Lol. I didn't know what that little line meant. Hahaha. And that was really cool how she did the octagons! Glad I love it, and super glad that this quilt board exists!!
:-D |
Thanks to all & your great tips & insights. Being a newbie to the quilting world & lacking a lot of wonderful tools such as this...I feel the start of a christmas list. No more will I hear "don't know what to get you" I'll just pass the list. ;)
thanks to all |
I love mine. The best ruler I've had.
Have the big I. I Loooove it.
I love love love mine. I have the 12" one and the one that will square up my 1/2 squares. I have just ordered the smaller one that will let me cut at 1/4" marks.
I first bought the Shape Cut (12" x 12") and loved it. Next I bought the Exact Eighths and the Half and Quarter Square and they are great. I use and Half and Quarter Square a lot just for trimming or marking, not just for 1/2 & 1/4 squares. I looked at the one with the 1/4" increments and decided not to get it because it is just too narrow. A few weeks ago, I got the Shape Cut Plus (12" x 18") and really love it. Walmart had the Shape Cut and Half & Quarter Square rulers on clearance, so I bought a spare of each.
You asked "is it just that wonderful?" My answer is a resounding, "YES!!!!!" I rarely use any other ruler. |
Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen one of those. I'll have to keep my eyes open!!
