For my grandson's baby shower I made Christmas tree ornaments or you could use them for gift tags. I took two squares of white felt about 2 1/2" square. Applique a heart shape of a contrasting color on the front of one of the squares. Sew a bead or button in the center of the heart. Then whip stitch the edges of the white squares together. Attach a narrow ribbon (about 1/8") to the top. We made labels on the computer using hard stock paper, punched a hole and put the ribbon through the hole. The guests liked the idea of a hand made item.

Does anyone know how to make the scented hot pads someone mentioned on here?

I made a "taggy" for my DGD. Her Mom calls it a tag rag. I used an odd piece of minkie that I had left over from a pair of pants. I used ribbons of different colors and sizes, also I used rick rack and cotton seam binding, even a piece of left over binding. It went right into her mouth.

I hope this shows up. I made it in my Excel program.
This is an idea of the baby ribbons square. Each of the ribbons can be a different color, width, and either satin or grograin ribbons.

Take two 12 inch squares of flannel (fleece will probably work also), place the folded ribbons along the wrong side of the one square and stitch each in place. Place the other 12 inch square on top (wrong sides together) and sew both pieces together. This will make the ribbons sewn in place twice.

i made a hanky blanky thing out of minkee fabric w/the tags...my best friends grandson still carries it around with him he's 5

My sister made one of these for my Grandson when he was just a couple months old. He was always rubbing the silky tag on his bibbs. She made on just like the picture. My daughter kept it in his crib.
