Marsey...........I thought I heard you calling me.

Marsey has summed it up.....I get waaaaaaaaaay so excited in conversation with others about all "you lovely friends" out here. I would love to meet, visit your home, share ideas...of course we all know that "maybe" could not happen, so I just have tea with you in the morning....reading the board. The only bad thing is it goes from just one cup of tea, to "two" or heck sometimes it "three". One name would be "Magnetic". Thank you for who/whom ever was instrumental of this board.

Do you know how "cute" this statement is.....I had my son that is with Management in Verizon (little plug there) fix up my cell phone so that I can keep in "contact" with you all where ever I go.....you all "rock" when I am stressed out. I think of everyone and yes, we exchange ideas...but also are saying a pray for one of your love ones, pray that you are not out there spending to much money on material :), pray that you are having fun making a special quilt, need I go on here how much I have to keep in contact with this board :)

I love you all. I was reading everything but soon realized I couldn't and still do what needs to be done around here. I used to post more too but I get so busy reading that time flies. You all are my treat to myself. I laugh with you and cry with you and feel a kinship when I see your name in another place. I have learned so much from this group. THANK YOU!! Heidi

I have to admit that I call this the quilt board (not very creative, I know). But if I had to use one word to describe it to someone, I would use:

Serendipity - the gift of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for.

Each of you is a wonderful friend, and so helpful. I like this group so much! Thanks!!!

I think you got the perfect description of this message board, now all we need to do is get a name.

Is that a nice word or not? What was your mother's mood when she called you a huzzie?

She's usually laughing her A@@ off! She gets a kick out of it.  Did I tell you I took after my 74 year old mother? hahahhaa A couple of days ago her and I went to Walmart. When we hit the door she usually goes her way and I go mine and then we meet back at the van. Well when I got to the check out she was 2 ahead of me in the same line. She wrote a check and they asked her to sign the little machine thing. She said how do I do that? She tried using her finger and the clerk handed her the pen. She still didn't know what to do with it. She didn't know I was in line so I hollered "thats my mother, we don't let her out of the house very often!!" She looked up and yelled back at me "shut up you huzzie" Everyone all around was cracking up. So you see...I get it honest.

I disagree about the Support" part of the group. I get tons of it here! I think we are a combination of support and inspiration! and the best part is that no one is critical. we all tend to give an ear and really listen. We treat each other with respect and kindness (soul support). We even support Quilting men! :) We are a Family, friends, buddies, and neighbors sharing our knowledge without condescending remarks. United by heart. United Cyber Quilter's

quilting friends, advisors, comedians, sufferers, empathy givers, reality checkers, you name it and you will find it on this board.

When you need advice on quilting...great place to come.
When you need a laugh...great place to come.
When you need some comfort...great place to come.
When you want to count your blessings...great place to come.
When you need "cheap" theapy....great place to come.

It is also a great place to have the opportunity share your blessings with others, help to meet the needs of others. Send some fabric, send a card, send a square to someone who is hurt...whatever, it gives you many opportunites to do this.

Love my quilting friends.

Margie

Ditto! I don't remember how I found the QB now but I'm thoroughly hooked. I've even hooked my daughter up, she's MaterialPunk. She isn't here as much as I am, but she loves it too.

I think we are friends and quilt angels. God bless. Penny

Joanieu 06-07-2010 07:27 AM

I do not post a lot, but I get on and listen (read), learn, get inspiration, laugh, cry... every emotions I can think of from you all. I just love this place and everyone involved. I can not remember how I found this place but I am so grateful that I did. There were a few times I was afraid to ask a question, but did and glad since I have learned by the answers. I have not joined a quild but consider this my guild and family. As soon as I retired (someday, yeah in my dreams), I can be on here more and more. I tell my friends and family (which none of them quilt) that I need to check my quilting board to see what I have missed. I just pray that this board never changes I love every single one of you and may GOD Bless you all. :)

Here in the Houston area we have a group of us that get together once a month. We call our selves the Mavalous Matronly Mavons. However, to each other we are Fristers. Friend/Sisters. That is how I think of this group.

I love all your suggestions but Down Under your my Quilting Mates. For us Aussies 'Mates' says it all!
"I'd love to have a beer with (insert your name here) cause....'s me mate" (with apologies to Slim Dusty)

I call it an online quilting community. Affectionately!

Jshep 07-29-2010 05:36 AM

Friends. What I love about this site is we talk about lots of things, cooking, canning, reading, family, trips, etc. not just quilting. Naturally quilting is the favorite topic.

Jshep 07-29-2010 05:40 AM

Uh-oh are you sure you want to know what Marsye was doing when her mother called her a huzzie? LOL

pamdux 07-29-2010 06:05 AM

I just think of it as QB. Just like a football team needs a quarterback to lead the team, I need th QB to look to for support, friendship, tips, patterns, and just plain old fun.

I love the suggestions and lovely thoughts and agree wholeheartedly, but in actuality this is a Quilting "Forum". There are now forums on the internet on just about any topic you could think of. Big-boards.com only tracks forums that have over 500,000 posts and those alone number close to 3,000 forums! So just to be included that category we are talking about 1,500,000,000 - one billion, five hundred million- posts and many of the big forums have way over a million members. Check out big-boards.com. Holy mackerel, there is a forum, "Gaia" that is a role play forum with over 22 million members.

We used to walk down the street to talk to someone, now we sit on our duffs and cruise on down the information highway.

Joyce 07-29-2010 07:55 AM

To me you all are my "forum friends". That's how my family knows you too.
I joined when this first started, but just read the posts.
I would think of posting, but after I wrote a few words, I would just delete.
Well just of late I have quit deleting and am having the time of my life.
Thank you my good friends for making me feel so welcome.

brenda21 07-29-2010 01:49 PM

I call it the online quilt guild....so many more members than any other guild could ever have :)
