I was thinking- when talking to others about the board- how do you refer to us?

Is it a support group- but I already belong to one to soothe my soul (lost my brother to suicide). When I think of a support group it's not really this group... I'm certainly not hurting when I'm here (except for peals of laughter and the tears from too much laughing).

And it's certainly not the support I need to keep my buying habits at bay... that's enabling and there's enough of that here- I have to be strong not to buy.

So what are we? Need a name for it- fun filled group of people sharing a common interest in quilting and all the internet has to offer lumped in one website. Can there be one word for it????

I call it my quilty friends.

However some of you have become like family to me along the way.

I don't belong to a quilting guild, nor do I have friends nearby to get together with for quilting. But, I do run into people who quilt. When I talk quilting with them, I refer to you folks as "my on-line quilting friends." And, I talk about you a LOT. My enthusiasm for this group knows no bounds!

I too do not have any friends that quilt. I also am retired on disability (so on a fixed income) and don't have a car, so it's hard to get around (especially to LQS). I am very thankful for thisQB. You all are my QB (quilting buddies).

:D

Barbm 05-30-2010 09:29 AM

how about a cyber quilt guild?

I don't belong to one. I know there is one about 20 min. from me but they are the quilt police. I'm afraid of them. Maybe this could be a guild where quilt police are not allowed.

Kind of like a "girls" clubhouse when you were a kid. But we allow guys. Even though we probably were right way back then- they probably had cooties. And where do the cooties go when suddenly they appeal to us? One of life's mysteries best left to another time.

I always tell my DH "I have to check on the Quilting Ladies".

I always say my quilting friends. I say friends because so many have taught me so much on how to improve my quilting and when I have a personal problem you all help me thru it.

Oh I love that one :D
It is that to me, also FRIENDS, so many things come to mind. I love all the topics, non-quilting as well b/c we get to share our femaleship (not sure that's a word but it is now lol) And we have some guys here too! Amazing fun.
I belong to Alanon- now THAT'S also a support group!!! But the QB is my new fav thing to get online for. I feel that I know all of you!
So sorry about your brother :(

sewcrafty 05-30-2010 10:11 AM

FUN!!!! To sum it up.

MadQuilter 05-30-2010 10:35 AM

My online quilting friends is what I generally say. Pat just calls you "my QB friends" and when he does something quilt-related he always asks me if I told the QB about it.

Jingle 05-30-2010 10:41 AM

About any of them apply here. I do like QB Friends or QB Buddies.

JanetM 05-30-2010 10:55 AM

We are a funny, silly, goofy group of fabraholics, that love to share fun, knowledge and support---but that is too long so I refer to you as my quilting friends. :D We're the best

My local quilting friends have started to hear a lot about stuff I am learning from my 'online friends'. I learn so much here every day, but I do have to say that my quilting time is taking a real hit since I'm spending so much more time online. I need to set a limit for myslef. Oh well, tomorrow.

Eagle Hawk 05-30-2010 11:06 AM

Fun friends and Inspirationalists !!!

I have looked at so many things here and become more inspired to make things and after posting a few pics of things I have done and seen responses I feel I have possibly inspired a few others, too. What a good feeling.

As friends we share ideas and web sites we find and congratulate at times and cry on a shoulder at others, as well as share and inspire. What would this quilting be if we couldn't share and show and learn from others once in awhile?

Sometimes, too, I will have a question about something I am working on and go to my computer just to take a break by reading what is new here and there it is...the answer to my question that someone has just posted and I didn't even have to ask!! That has happened more than once.

Thanks to all of you for inspiration, and answers and friendship and sharing.

She's usually laughing her A@@ off! She gets a kick out of it.  Did I tell you I took after my 74 year old mother? hahahhaa A couple of days ago her and I went to Walmart. When we hit the door she usually goes her way and I go mine and then we meet back at the van. Well when I got to the check out she was 2 ahead of me in the same line. She wrote a check and they asked her to sign the little machine thing. She said how do I do that? She tried using her finger and the clerk handed her the pen. She still didn't know what to do with it. She didn't know I was in line so I hollered "thats my mother, we don't let her out of the house very often!!" She looked up and yelled back at me "shut up you huzzie" Everyone all around was cracking up. So you see...I get it honest.

My husband is involved in several "forums" on subjects in which he is interested. He calls them forums. So, I just call this "the quilting forum".

That's what I have on my toolbar at the top of the page to link to this. Works great.
