STARTED CHRISTMAS, who else
is getting a jump and tell us what you're working on. I did two sets of towels with my cousins names on each set.
both sets are white with a deep aqua lettering. |
oh yeah, and I made their daughter a tree skirt with a matching pillow. med green with dark holly leaves and red berries with beads in the middle
I have made 9 Sulky Solvy ribbon/yarn scarfs. Have 4 more to make. Am also making some necklaces. I think I have burnt my family out with quilted things for awhile.
I have made lap size quilts for each of my 5 grandchildren
I plan to make a table runner for each of my 3 girls (ie daughter and 2 newly married DILs) and feedsack dish towels for them as well.
I am amazed at the gifts you all manage to get made! We do not exchange gifts with extended family... In fact, sorry to admit this but the only times I see any of my cousins is at funerals. I will be making purses and table runners for our daughters. Maybe I'll get around to making a couple aprons for friends who have asked for them. That will be about the extent of it for me.
Pictures? All my stuff is in storage so no sewing for me, I have to live vicariously through the projects of others for the time being.
"In fact, sorry to admit this but the only times I see any of my cousins is at funerals."
Unfortunately, this is true for many families, including my own! |
I just finished a rag quilt for my DD's MIL. DD and SIL will be doing all the clipping, thankfully!! I will probably make some grocery tote bags for oldest DD and hope to finish a quilt for younger DD. I want to make a tree skirt and any links to tutorials will be great!
I have made some place mats. Have patterns and fabric for a couple aprons. Cross stitch bread cloths for some little baskets. I am not sure I will get any large items done this year.
I just got re-aquainted with these cousins at my aunts funeral. haven't seen them in 26 yrs sine my grandparents funeral. was tld by mm to "keep away from them", they are soooo nice. I don't know what she was talking about.
just met their daughter once, and she's the girl I never had.so, i'm having fun. also spent sometime making my Christmas reindeer ornaments for the swap and as gifts |
I am making bed runners for couples, throws for my 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 3 grandsons. I've got the throws made and 1 bed runner made. Doll carriers for my 2 great nieces.
Also, a good friend is having a baby due the middle of December, so making several snuggleys and toys, onsie with tie. I'm having a blast. |
Ooh. Never thought about bed runners. I make a lot of pillowcases for my family. Am working on a couple of lap quilts but don't know if I will be done by Christmas. :o
Ditto on any tree skirt links... |
I have to get out all of my Xmas ufos and try to finish some of them!! Also have a list of quilts to finish for gifts.
Tomorrow, I am taking a Christmas quilt to the LAQ. The quilt is for one of my daughter's foster children who has autism. I have finished one king size Christmas quilt for my daughter; but I still have to make matching pillowcases. I am working on the borders of an appliqué lap quilt for her. That quilt, I plan to quilt myself. I have 2 quilts at the LAQ's that will be Christmas gifts and a quilt for my sister that is finished. I have plans for several more quilts for Christmas. I'll probably still be making Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve,
I haven't started anything yet but I sure need to get with the plan.

I made a stocking tonight. I need to refine the pattern but I think I did well for my first go.
I have Christmas table runners i haven't finished from last Christmas. That's the only thing I was thinking of for quilted gifts.
Oh, yes, 3 handbags - done, 1 teacher's tote - done, 1 Christmas tree skirt - done, 1 folding chalk board - done, 1 wall hanging, almost finished - still some hand quilting to finish & binding. Then I will be finished with Christmas, and thinking of what I will be making for 2014 Christmas.
I did bags and table runners two years ago. I did Kindle covers, ruffle scarves and aprons last year.
I am making my 2 grandsons each a quilt for Xmas. When they come back from the quilter I will post them.
I have made 4 Midi Bags (using preprinted interfacing) Made 4 small "snap bags" using leftover fabric. The snap bags use carpenters tape to "snap" them shut. Also a little shoulder bag for 10 year old granddaughter. Have fabric for hot pads.

I am in the middle of making an owl wall hanging. It has six different little owls on branches. I took one and enlarged it to be a wall hanging for my sister for Christmas. He's the one on the right with the grey background.

I made a Halloween throw/wall hanging and one for Christmas.
I'm thinking about a couple of Christmas projects. Nothing made yet.
I was making a bag out of a couple of orphan blocks that have followed me around the USA for 20+ years. Thought it would go to my DDIL for Christmas. Too many hours to give as I know she might give it to someone else. So it's mine. There are two more orphans that will turn into pillows for the master bedroom. Who has time for Christmas sewing? LOL!!! There IS one tablerunner that has two of the three blocks finished, and there's fabric for more tablerunners. Guess it's time to get moving on them!! :D
I'm so excited. This year I may actually make my goal of a quilted item for each of my siblings, each of my kids, and each of my nieces and nephews families. I've already completed 4 table runners, and have several more cut out and ready to piece together. I've paper pieced 12 hot pads so far - another 12 to go, and then of course quilting them and finishing, but I've got SUCH a great start compared to previous years. Not having to get up and go to work each morning is WONDERFUL!!!!!!
I started in Jan. Made 2 queen size and 2 full size and just finished my GD QS wedding quilt.
I've bought fabric! Does that count? Oh and some of my UFOs might find their way under the tree (don't know which year though!)
I made 8 muslin bunnies for my 8 granddaughters. I also made 6 bow tucks bags for gifts. In crochet I have made 4 minion, 1 duck and 1 frog hat. I also have a queen size lone star for one DD and beginning one this weekend for another. The benefits of being on disability is lots of time to sew.with 14 grandbabies, I try to make as much as I can.
I pieced a small Christmas tree skirt for my daughter in law tonight. It was quick and easy. I hope she likes it. She puts up trees all over her house. One is a small black tree with orange and black Oregon State ornaments. The tree skirt is orange and black Oregon State colors and logos octagon. It is kind of cute, not sure I like this pattern. I want to make a pink tree skirt for her pink tree....woodsy one for her woodsy room and tree. She loves to decorate!
I also want to make some fun aprons too for Christmas.
I'm teaching two of my grand daughters how to make mug rugs for family members. They are made with a snowman theme and each will be wrapped with a christmas mug and the makings for snowman soup. Daughters are getting table runners, and each of my sons will get a lap quilt. Oh, and a quilted christmas stocking for our news grand daughter due this month.
