The best part is that you MIL came over and helped you do this.

What a great day you had! Your MIL sounds like a fellow quilter also. The two of you got to spend some quality time together, and you've learned something new as well. Congrats on your intro to the wonderful world of quilting!! :)

Oh, give your MIL a hug from me. You are so lucky to have a MIL who cares enough to help you get started in quilting. Mine was not a sewer, so she couldn't help when I started, but OH how she knew how to cook!!! Learned a lot about putting a meal together and still appreciate what she taught a new bride. (50 years ago too--)

That is great! There is a good feeling to be the recipient of gifts of time, talents shared, as well as the tools of the trade and fabric. I love to be able to help someone else get "the bug" so this art will not die out. Have fun with your rail fence.
