And it always happens at the end of the project. Or almost the end. Why is that? Or is it just that I remember those more vividly? Yes, you are entirely lucky in having such a good friend. Especially when it was a rush competition quilt. I commend your friend and your courage in letting her know.

I'm in love with my Clover air erasable pens and was using it to mark the diagonals on her quilt. HOWEVER.....carelessly, I picked up and used a permanent turquoise pen. I thought I would vomit on the spot. I called her; we talked. At guild last night she brought me some extra material. I've fixed it, by hand today. Other than the fact she knows, the only evidence is one visible diagonal seam that wasn't there before. I was worried more about her friendship, which is intact, than anything else. It happened so fast (and though I offered her a freebie, she still willing to pay me) Friendship good. Pens BAD. |

I use Fons & Porter's pencil graphite and white chalk pens to mark my quilts: they are kept next to my work area. All "other" pens and permanent markers are kept in a separate place. |

Oh my that is one of my fears, that I will grab the wrong pen sometime. I try to keep the permanent one put away, but I get pretty ADD when I am creating. SO glad you were able to fix it.

You need large coffee cups to separate different types of pens so that cant happen again. I have watercolor, permanent, and fabric pens so mixing them would be a disaster too. Great save!

You have a good friend and are a good friend. I did the same thing with what I thought was a Frixion pen on white fabric. Lesson learned: keep your Frixion pens in a separate place from your other pens.

What a great friend! And save! I worry about doing the same thing so keep my sharpies well hidden from myself. I think part of what makes quilting so interesting is the ingenious fixes we find. I just finished a t-shirt quilt that as a significant pucker. Since the owner wants a large photo label so a team can autograph it, I'm putting the label over the pucker on the back!
