LQS owner told me fabric prices are going up again! I usually do a reorganization every January and while I have more fabric than I will ever use it is my passion.

What bothers me are the tools or gadgets that I HAD to have. Many of them are still in their original package.

I took advantage of a couple of sales to purchase backing fabric for a couple of projects that I am currently working on like my LongTimeGone quilt. I also reorganize my sewing room each January...it is a great reminder of the things I have on hand.

Well, as "luck" would have it, I've been stopped cold from any "cyber sales, 50%, or anything else", until SO figures out where or why I've either have some kind of water problem or electrical problem and the lights in my sewing room aren't working. Breaker switch keeps popping off. SO took the light switch panel off and said "Uh-Oh, it feels damp behind the switch box". So we may have a leak, and it's turned real cold and the rain we just had has froze in the gutter and on the roof. Or it could be the breaker box is the problem, or who knows..........:(

So many of you have expressed my thinking about not buying any more fabric. I have been on a binge for several months and have so much fabric if I never bought another yard I have enough to last the rest of my life. I have not give in to Black Friday or Cyber Monday. I sure need encouragement to stay in this line of thinking.

Hahaha I’d do the trip to Marshall’s too. I’ve been in the process of getting my new sewing studio fixed up. It’s aka the “garage”. No longer looks like a garage. Omg the fabric I have but let’s just say I’m a big auction sale fan n so was my husband. Anything I didn’t like I have given away. I’ve given 3 of my sisters fabric n they all quilt. I also have 3 rather large totes to go to the local church as they also quilt n give to each senior when she graduates from high school if she belongs

I think when we shop for fabric, we are getting satisfaction out of our dreams. When we learn to focus and make up what we buy, our dreams come true. I think the thing I enjoy the most about quilting is poking around in my stuff and figuring out how I can make something beautiful out of what I have. The less it costs, the more satisfying it is for me. I recycle and enjoy making my quilts for extremely low cost. Using recycled finds is the most challenging and most satisfying way for me to quilt.

I also have morerice fabric than I will ever be able to use in my life but I volunteer in a thrift store. I buy some fabric and gadgets there.

I'm also moving my sewing room to my den and I have unearthed treasures that I haven't seen in ages. Not only that, I have found things that I have purchased over and over without realizing it. I have even found a couple of shopping bags (small ones) that have sewing tools in them that I haven't even touched. And fabric, don't even get started on that one... I've been trying NOT to put a guilt trip on myself, realizing all of the money that I have paid for things that I didn't need. So I have put myself on a "quilting starvation diet." |
