Boy can I relate. I just finished hand quilting an old quilt for this gal; she saw my bins under the quilt machine; I told her "that is nothing; it's just a 'drop in the bucket' compared to what is in what was originally my sewing room". I forgot to tell her about the bins in the garage. She said I needed an 'intervention'. She's probably right. I try not to buy things anymore unless it is for something I need to make and KNOW I do not have it. This sure is an addicting hobby! Which in turns makes it expensive. But keeps us out of trouble - well unless we go shopping!

Think about it as 'shopping the wall' first. This makes it fun and less of denying yourself.

I've not purchased during black friday or Cyber Monday; frankly I didn't see anything to peak my interest enough to buy anything else. Free shipping is usually offered at a lot of sites anyway if you buy X amount - and most of us probably do. So unless the prices are way down there, it wasn't worth it to me; I didn't even bother looking at them this year.

I stocked up on great priced fabric when I went to the Fall Paducah show. Seeing it still sitting in bags and piles stops me from more purchases... for now at least.

And then there are my precuts and scraps! All the stuff I've cut from leftovers, and 2.5 and 5" squares I've traded... Plenty to work with, for a looooong time.

I love fabric!

The good news is that you have a whole year to use up the unwanted bits and plan for what you will need for next year's Black Friday Sales! What an opportunity.

Thank you for this post. Now I don't feel so guilty. I know I have more fabric than I will probably ever use, but I still love to look and dream. But I have been deleting and unsubscribing, because I am still in withdrawal. But isn't it lovely stuff

I just moved from one house to the other. Don't feel badly, I found stuff I'd forgotten about for years!! Now, I feel like I'm set for life, but still that won't stop me if I find something I love....just don't tell my husband I said that!! ;-p

I know how you feel. I have decided that I am as much a collector as a quilter and my new year resoloution is going to be sew more collect less for at least a year.

While I am sorry not to be supporting my LQS, moving things in my quilting studio always allows me to find something new to work on. When that should fail, I can always pick up a UFO. Going on year three of not purchasing material except for a special need or backing.

I am glad I am not the only one with an enormous amount of fabric stash. The excuse I give myself for purchases is I may not afford to buy fabric once I retire. :D
