Awesome............I would love to teach kids to sew. I've taught a niece, nephew and his friend to sew and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm sure you are having a ball with them. Have you let them use the rotary cutter yet?? My friend lets her second graders use the safety ones and no one has ever gotten hurt using it. Of course she teaches them they hows and whys of being safe and using them. Keep up the good work.

One of the girls this morning said "Mrs. Debbie I think maybe you should get a new blade for the rotary cutter with all this new fabric, because we are going to be doing alot of cutting" I just laughed and told her that I would see about getting some new blades. I LOVE my job and look forward to going to work everyday! |
Debbie, I also have quite a few of the 35mm rotery blades , can u use that size ? If so, I'll put them in the package. Sara

Great job you are doing there...this is something that they will remember and your kindness will remain with them for years!! I had a lady stop me in Walmart one day and say..."Hey aren't you Mrs. B? you were my girlscout leader way back when" *L* I felt old but at the same time felt good that she remembered me...She was in school with my oldest DD who is now 38 yrs old...
Keep up the good work...you are a blessing!! Happy Stitchin' Linda B. |
Your post really touched my heart. I hope God just blesses and blesses you for your work. Children are our future... and quilting is universal. Keep up the wonderful work... and thank you for sharing. You made my day!

What wonderful thing you are doing for these children. I have a suggestion for those that want to learn to hand quilt. Start them off with a darning needle and crochet thread. They can learn to control the needle as well as the length of their stitches. I did a quilt for my Dad about 10 years ago with the scraps from the shirts Mom made for him. I did a cross hatch stitch and used crochet thread and it was outstanding. Hope you can continue with this project. Send me your address and I will go through my wealth of scraps and see what I can send to help you out. Sally F.

Please post what size or kind of fabric would be best for you. I truely belive the Lord has lead me to learn to quilt to bless others. Yes I will make for my extended family but my main goal is to bless others with my newly acquired skill. So please post your address and any needs for this program. If I or my quilting friends can help we would love to.
