just got a flyer that one of the local quilting shops is going out of business end of the year - so they are having a 50% off sale on Black Friday! Was just in there and there were so many (actually nearly all) fabrics I wanted. Lots is Moda and other bigger name brands (sell for $8/yard) so wouldn't $4.00 a yard be a good deal? Some of that makes it cheaper than Wally World! See, now I have nearly talked myself into going Friday! Rats!

amma 11-20-2010 01:01 PM

Get lots of rest Thursday night  :lol:

auntmag 11-20-2010 01:01 PM

Go to the sale and enjoy yourself.

ktbb 11-20-2010 01:02 PM

which store is it? I'm in Central Illinois and might want to make it myself!

Lisas 11-20-2010 01:02 PM

You have to go! Our local quilt store is having a sale the end of December. I can't wait!

quiltingfan 11-20-2010 01:04 PM

If you don't go, you'll wish you had. But get there early because you aren't the only one who got the flyer.

Go! For those prices, you just gotta go! LOL

NancyG 11-20-2010 01:21 PM

Oh, you can't pass this one up. Wish I lived closer....I'd go with you. Have fun!

KarenR 11-20-2010 01:24 PM

Have fun on Black Friday. Rest on Turkey day and then be the first in line to get all the great material.
Have fun shopping!!!!

Sewsweet 11-20-2010 01:30 PM

How can any one of us tell you to stay home, when we all want to go

Kwiltergirl 11-20-2010 01:41 PM

As my best friend, Gwen, would say, "You in trouble girl!" Actually, have fun getting into all this trouble. Wish I could go with you!!!

RedGarnet222 11-20-2010 01:44 PM

Ageed! I wish I could go too. I would only take what money I could afford to spend and enjoy myself with every penny. That way the guilt wouldnt get to me later. LOL!

jojosnana 11-20-2010 01:51 PM

The only reason any of us fabricholics would tell you to stay home is if we were close enough to get there first!

CarrieAnne 11-20-2010 01:54 PM

I think you HAVE to go for prices like that, lol!

nwm50 11-20-2010 01:55 PM

rats...you're in Ill and im in Fla !

gale 11-20-2010 01:57 PM

Sorry-you have to go. To make up for the poor people like me who don't have a decent LQS.

mrs. fitz 11-20-2010 02:02 PM

Okay, don't go, stay home.

Now that I've told you what you asked to hear.......get there early, cash in hand, and let the other shoppers hit the mall for Black Friday Christmas shopping. You do some "YOU" shopping. Sorry to hear you'll be losing a LQS.

PurplePassion 11-20-2010 02:05 PM

The quilt shop in my town never has a sale, and their clearance fabric is 25% off from $10.00 a yard; and it is not that pretty of fabric. Why would you not go ; and buy stuff you like and need, at a good price?

justflyingin 11-20-2010 02:06 PM

Stay home. Think of all the guilt you will have for the money you are going to spend unnecessarily.

;)

AngieS 11-20-2010 02:08 PM

I honestly would have a hard time telling you not to go....... :( I would want to go too! SO, I'll skip work and you can take me along!! HA!

plainjane 11-20-2010 02:17 PM

Go! Go! Go! Go!

quiltingaz 11-20-2010 02:19 PM

Wish I was there. I would definitely go if I had the chance. Just set a limit before you go.

craftybear 11-20-2010 02:23 PM

Go Go Go and be the first one in the door, have fun!

KiwiQuilter 11-20-2010 02:36 PM

It's a shame that the store is closing. But then again, opportunities to purchase new fabric at the discounted prices don't come up often.

If you can get there and you can shop then do it and enjoy :)

You didn't seriously think we would say no :)

Ann L 11-20-2010 02:38 PM

GO and have fun.

champagnebubbles 11-20-2010 02:42 PM

Ok You have to go. FYI I have a weakness for notions.

redvette54 11-20-2010 04:04 PM

Think of it as an early Christmas gift for yourself.

Snorky Lvs2Quilt 11-20-2010 06:44 PM

Had a local quilt shop go out of business a few years ago and got some awesome deals on fabric. Of course I bought tons of fabric I couldn't pass up. They started out at 50% off then when it got closer to closing they went to75% off or more. By then the good stuff was gone but I still found treasures then too. Never regretted all my wonderful "deals" on fabric.

CoriAmD 11-20-2010 06:45 PM

I sure would go if I lived close - have fun!

kriscraft99 11-20-2010 06:47 PM

Just remember, it is going to be a crazy house! how much are you planning to spend and would it be worth the savings for being in such madness? if the answer is yes.... by all means..... gooooooooooooooooo

grammyp 11-20-2010 06:50 PM

I think you should just stay home. Who needs a great collection of wonderful fabrics to freshen up their stash? Who needs to save 50% on every yard of beautiful cotton they purchase? Who wants to get themselves a great pre-Christmas present?

But then again, who ever listens to a thing I say? Go, have fun.

Boscobd 11-20-2010 07:24 PM

Go and have a great time!!

deema 11-20-2010 07:32 PM

You know...just the thought of Black Friday shopping makes my stomach turn (and I'm Canadian! LOL)...but I would DEFINITELY go to this sale...

G'ma Kay 11-20-2010 07:52 PM

Don't guess there'll be much left after Friday. I have obligations here near Quincy on Friday, otherwise I'd likely be making the road trip!

G'ma Kay 11-20-2010 07:54 PM

Hello, my name is Kay. I've been a fabriholic for 35 years, and I haven't bought fabric for about 3 hours now.

kriscraft99 11-20-2010 07:57 PM

Hi Kay ;)
