You call it a design decision. That's what makes this quilt unique. :D

Yep I was thinking the same thing

Leave it as is. On the label write something to the effect that it represents the fallen soldiers.

What about putting some sort of saying, poem or maybe "QUILT OF VALOR". Would fill the space and no one would be the wiser.

What if the recipient is the sort of person that is really bothered by things like pictures that are crooked on the wall, buttons that are buttoned incorrectly? a broken fingernail?

The person might be in a position where this quilt may be something that will be looked at - a lot -

I'd probably just cut the border off.

Ouch!! I just finished a QFKs quilt that I ended up calling the suicide quilt! I swear that thing was jinxed!! I came close to pitching it several times but I just couldn't do it. I'm afraid I wouldn't be happy unless I took apart and fixed it - it would haunt me forever! It's a beautiful quilt and what you do just depends on what you can live with ;-) Good luck!!

Out in the machine embroidery world there are patterns for the pledge of allegiance. I would just appliqué it right over the design. I don't have access to it right now but if you would like to know where to get the pattern just let me know

The quilt is lovely and the "oops" looks like an arty element to me. Do you seriously think the recipient will notice? I don't. Be happy and finish it.

Do you seriously thing the recipient won't notice? Maybe not at first, but eventually?

First off...Your quilt is beautiful! It looks like you just turned around 2 sections. If it were mine...I would carefull take out the quilting in just this area, sew the pieces int he right place and then requilt it. It's not as bad as you think. We have all done this. I love your quilt and the design. Don't beat yourself up over this. Just remember...there are never any mistakes in qujilting...only creative adjustments. I'm sure the person recieving this will love it!

This sounds like a great idea, your quilt is beautiful!!!
