Wish I could help, but I am an addict myself :hunf: My daughter asked me if I was setting up a "sweatshop". opportunity does not come my way often, so I would be a push over..............

I 'd buy it and sell one of your other machines. One does not often see a treadle in that good condition.

islandboundquilting 09-10-2011 07:58 AM

Go for it!!!! The way I look at it you can't have to much fabric or to many machines!!!!Life is to short not to enjoy your passion! If you can afford it do it, you will have regrets if you don't, and regrets aren't a good thing. Take my word for it.

merridancer 09-10-2011 08:01 AM

And what dumb thing has the DH purchased lately for $60. Buy it !!!

Lady Diana 09-10-2011 08:38 AM

I would go for it...it is beautiful.
BTW why is there an advertisement for a fitness site on your post?

jlm5419 09-10-2011 08:42 AM

With only 7 machines, I'd go for it if the price was right. I love my Singer 66 "Red Head"

Ms Elaine Va 09-10-2011 08:57 AM

If you pass tell where and how much - I'm not allowed to buy anything more -but watch me Ha ha

justme CA 09-10-2011 09:07 AM

Pass. you have enough already.

momof4 09-10-2011 09:12 AM

It is beautiful...

Minnisewta 09-10-2011 09:13 AM

My DH just brought a new guitar but he sold 2 others to help pay for it and make room. Can you sell any of your machines?

QuiltMom1980 09-10-2011 09:16 AM

Are you kidding!!!!! NEVER pass up an opportunity like this. You will regret it before the blink of an eye.

Geri B 09-10-2011 09:19 AM

well, I would buy that one and maybe get rid of one of the seven you already have, just to make dh feel like you are just replacing. Look at it this way, these old machines are an investment for retirement......you may get a better return on them than on some of the stocks lately!!

Sunnye 09-10-2011 09:22 AM

Take pity on a poor woman with only ONE machine! PM me?

deedum 09-10-2011 09:30 AM

Ok quilter friends! I made my decision! I am going to PASS on buying this wonderful red eye machine! I am blessed with a dh who puts up with me and my quilting addiction. I guess since we are going to downsize, it just makes sense not to keep buying! So while it was fun for awhile, I will just be happy with my wonderful machines I have and love. I get such joy from my old Singers! Thanks everyone for letting me think out loud and for your thoughts!

Rose L 09-10-2011 09:36 AM

Atta girl. Good decision for the circumstances!!

Sunnye 09-10-2011 10:02 AM

Great! When/where can I pick it up? !!!!!!!!!!!!
I really would love it if possible. My mother had one and I always regretted her getting rid of it.

garysgal 09-10-2011 10:06 AM

Listen to your husband.

0tis 09-10-2011 10:07 AM

I say pass...

luv it

Kas 09-10-2011 10:12 AM

Dang. That cabinet is worth the $60, alone. I hope someone else on the board is able to get it. I have two redeyes and one needs a cabinet.

Margie 09-10-2011 10:12 AM

I know the desire is always there with us "machine addicts" try to pass lol

FERSID 09-10-2011 10:25 AM

Go for it!!!! Unless the price is ridiculous - part of the charm is the old cabinet it comes in - hard to find these days.

You could always sell one of you other machines you're not "quite attached to" to make up for the purchase.

deedum 09-10-2011 10:36 AM

Okay, I may be crying myself to sleep at nite! Such a hard decision! I hope I don't waiver! For the record, this isn't at all like me! I make decisions quickly!

deedum 09-10-2011 10:39 AM

I think when it is so close to your heart, it makes it very hard! Only another quilter who loves vintage machines would understand this....teardrop!

Alondra 09-10-2011 11:35 AM

Do you already have a treadle machine? With the predicted power outages I keep hearing about, we will probably all need one, but if you already have one, pass on this one and use the money for something you really need. Too much of a good thing is still too much. <G>

Anna.425 09-10-2011 11:42 AM

Oooooooooooooo, I waaaaaaaaaaant it! Can't even imagine how I would get it from Illinois to Washington. :(

teacherbailey 09-10-2011 11:54 AM

Pass. Sell your machine stash down some, and then buy another later if you absolutely MUST....

twixbar 09-10-2011 12:03 PM

Pass

butterflywing 09-10-2011 12:03 PM

buy it and pretend it's a cabinet. don't tell that it's got a machine inside. say you've been wanting a lamp table over ......there!

Suzi 09-10-2011 12:12 PM

OK - you made your decision! Now, go on with your life.............go sew something on another machine and put this one out of your mind. They keep popping out of the woodwork it seems and when your ready there will be another, prettier one to wonder about ............ (((HUGS)))

Quilt Mom 09-10-2011 12:35 PM

She's a beauty. Any possibility you could get her sewing and gift her to someone in your family who has the desire to sew on a people-powered machine?

quiltycook 09-10-2011 02:45 PM

Sell one of your current machines, THEN buy this one....otherwise, pass. Or sell dh.....smile....just kidding...maybe....

Yeah, that would be my thought, too. I know how much we ALL love machines, but if you really are trying to downsize, I'd pass, too.

aronel 09-10-2011 03:02 PM

I would buy what a beauty. JMHO.

Oh I absolutely adore my singer 15's!!! My dh said when we move I will have to sale them and I said "think again"!
I could never let those go, I may sale my 99k though.

quiltwiz 09-10-2011 03:34 PM

I would grab it in a minute...if the price is right.

Drew 09-10-2011 03:35 PM

I would buy it. Thinking of times I have passed and then wished I would have bought it! I think it's opportunity that doesn't come all the time. Someone higher up is looking out for you!!

flybynight 09-10-2011 03:36 PM

I hear you! I have 9 machines. My very first (an old Imperial) an industrial singer, 4 old hand cranks, a treadle, a Phaff. a Euro Pro Shark and of course - a serger. Just a couple of days ago I wanted to buy a Singer Featherweight, but the gentleman at the store wouldn't sell it to me, but I will try to talk him into the sale. I simply cannot resist those machines. Don't pass if you really want this machine. You may never have the same option again.
Go for it!!
