Dearest Friends,

I want to express my gratitude for the many PMs I have received expressing love and support.

The entire nation is in mourning. There were office workers, passersby and others who were injured or killed at the Parliament offices.

There were people, kids, young adults, adults from every section of the country on that island enjoying the annual summer retreat.

These are NOT right wing fundamentalist (Hitler-type youth) as reported on one Internet site. They are young people who believe in democracy, peace and want to devote their lives to political science and public service.

I hope you have seen the dignified marches with people carrying roses to express sympathy as well as their firm belief in "Love of fellow man, Peace and Democracy" as our answer to such terrorism. A nation in grief whose people do not seek revenge is a rare thing in today's world. In a poll taken by one of the national newspaper 75% of the country continues to reject capitol punishment as the answer to violence.

The Norwegian children have devised their own website where they can share their feelings and talk about what ever they need to discuss through animation.

May I ask for prayer for everyone who has been impacted? There remain parents/families still waiting for word on their loved ones. It is not only the families of the victims who need our prayers, but also the police, rescue service personal and volunteers who all required trauma help. Some are feeling crushed under the aftermath of the burden of dealing with the horror.

I am so proud of my little nation.

My heritage is Norweigan; my grandparents came from there and I have relatives there. I am deeply saddened by events. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and everyone.

your little part of the world has my prayers for all of you.

emerald46 07-27-2011 05:23 AM

I've been praying for all of you since we heard the horrible news. Makes my heart just ache to think of all that sadness and loss.

sewmary 07-27-2011 05:28 AM

Having visted Norway and lived there, although for brief periods, I have a great affection for the country and the people. One of the things that impressed me was the openness of discussion and the awareness of and involvement in politics by the young people. In this world of revenge and blame it is wonderful to see the country hold strong to their beliefs.

It goes without saying that i feel great sadness for the loss and destruction of so many lives.

Borntohandquilt 07-27-2011 05:35 AM

All my sympathy goes to the people in your beautiful country. You are all in my thoughts.

We have mental illness all over the world. We were shocked by our tragedy in Arizona and no sane person understands what causes these people to think and act they way they do. I pray every day for peace and food for the entire world. Have you seen the heart breaking pics of the small starving children? I can not imagine a mother having to watch your child go hungry.

Blessings and prayers to you and yours!!!!

BLAP 07-27-2011 08:39 AM

I, too, pray for those impacted by your disaster. I know that the people of your country are very resilient and will come out of this tradgedy even stronger.

beaniekins 07-27-2011 08:49 AM

I will continue to pray for those in Norway and around the world who are affected by horrible acts of violence like this. I hope you as a nation are able to heal and continue to be the wonderful, welcoming country that you have been for so long.

sall 07-27-2011 08:51 AM

I have been to Norway, and found it a beautiful country, and my heart goes out to everyone there, especially to those who were caught up in this horrendous act. Here in my city there is a church that belongs to the Norwegian people which has been here for over 100 years (this being a sea port) and today they were open for local people to sign a book of condolence. My town hall also has a book for people to sign, something which I will be doing tomorrow.

gollytwo 07-27-2011 08:56 AM

My prayers are with all of you

crafty pat 07-27-2011 09:55 AM

Our prayers go out for you all. May God give you strength and comfort and see you through this awful time.

gigi10 07-27-2011 09:57 AM

That ripple was felt all over the world. Prayer is the very least as well as the very most we can do.

lyndaloo 07-27-2011 10:01 AM

I am so sorry for what you all have lost in this senseless tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Rose Cactus 07-27-2011 10:22 AM

I started praying the second I heard. And Norway was remembered in our prayers at church, too.

Every country touched by terrorism has felt the same mourning and aching for the victims and their families. We are all with you in this, as we have gone through it also. Our prayers for peace and comfort for those who lost loved ones, and for your nation which has not known such violence in the past.

I think the first reaction of many was "NORWAY??? How could such a thing happen in Norway?". The hearts of America are crying with you. Many prayers have been said for your country and your countrymen.

running1 07-27-2011 01:55 PM

Dear GladGrams... I'm so sorry for the loss you and your countrymen feel. I, too, understand the loss having lost friends in the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 and, while I did not lose anyone on 9/11 I knew personally, like most Americans I felt a deep sense of emptiness. We will keep you and your countrymen in our prayers and thoughts as you slowly heal. It does take time and patience.... but healing does occur. It may not ever be complete healing as there are often scars left behind, just as in a physical wound... but there will be healing.

I know I speak for many, especially here in Oklahoma, when I say we will not forget...

bjnicholson 07-27-2011 02:06 PM

Amen...

blueangel 07-27-2011 06:30 PM

Our prayers go out to all the wonderful people in your country.

wolfkitty 07-27-2011 10:18 PM

Prayers for all in your country, those killed and injured, but also, as you said, the police, ambulance people and all the responders working during this terrible time that will have to deal with the mayhem etched in their minds. God bless you and everyone anywhere that has to deal whit such things, but maybe on a smaller scale where it doesn't make the news. God bless all in these situations!
