I've never tried a 1-block wonder such as this as I always thought due to the fussy cutting that there is a lot of wasted fabric. Is there? Just curious as I see such beautiful quilts made from them like yours.

Well, it's not actually the *same* as fussy cutting. You start by cutting the width of the triangle (you're using an equilateral 60-degree triangle for OBW so all sides are the same) and then cutting edge-to-edge triangles within that.

I'm told if you can also close down on waste by measuring how long your 'repeat' of fabric is, and from there divide that by the width of the triangle pieces you intend to use, you can figure out if it will create much waste, i.e. if the repeat is evenly divisible by whatever the width of triangle you're using. I randomly used the standard 3.75 on my fabric, and the only real waste I have is where I screwed up and cut the edges unevenly! Even so, I can use those pieces...re-cut them evenly a bit smaller, and make some smaller triangles which I'll use on the border of the quilt. I think the pattern makes very good use of yardage though it takes 6 repeats to do.

Ohhh, that is beautiful, I love it! OBW is on my list of quilt patterns to try. I'm rather intimidated by it for some reason. I think I'm most worried about picking the right fabric.
