Really a cute and unique quilt. I have two grandsons and their parents who are Star War geeks of long standing. This reminds me of all the Lego sets of Star
Wars features-some very simple and some very complex and the boys did them all. My suggestion to quilt is to stay with STID around the squares and rectangles in the design to give the components depth. Then, perhaps some of the other characters and or features of Star Wars. I am sure you can find them on the internet easily. Since they would be going in the background, they would be fairly easy to outline. Let us know what you do.

MaggieLou, the pattern comes from a meltable bead pattern, so there is no size. Try Googling 'meltable bead' or 'Perler bead Star Wars' patterns. One square of fabric =1 bead. Follow the color of the bead and make the squares what ever size you like. Just keep them all the same. Graph paper would be helpful! Hope this helps

This is on its way to being a great quilt. Can you tell us what your finished size is?

MaryAnnMc 05-08-2014 09:06 AM

It looks like he'll finish up at 58 x 86. I used jelly rolls for the strips, so they *should* finish out at 2". I'm not promising, my measurements never come out just right.

Sewnoma, I love your suggestion... not sure I can pull it off, but maybe I'll give it a try on some scrap.

That is really clever. Good for you!

I have not a clue how to quilt it, but here is a link to a Darth Vader quilt which was quilted with characters from the movies. It isn't the first quilt, you have to scroll down to it.
