If it were mine, I'd put a dark narrow border (like 1 1/2"), then go the opposite direction for a final border, maybe the "right" shade of yellow/gold. For my quilts, I need a place for the eye to rest. :)

What purpose would a border serve? A border would interfere with the modern look of this quilt. It's very modern... You did a great job! Just quilt and bind it.
I'd say just bind it! Looks great as is!
I think it looks beautiful without the border, looks nice and clean. Great job!
I don't think a border is necessary.

My great-grandmother made one out of clothing fabric leftovers and did not add a border. It looks good without a border. Yours is lovely with the way you arranged the colors.
I think borders add a finishing touch, like a picture frame, but I cannot imagine what border I would use on this. You don't want to detract from the image you have created. It is beautiful.

Treat it like you would when framing a picture. Pick a dark color for the first frame that works with all the colors, then a lighter color from the quilt and make that a thin second frame, then the third and the widest frame...deep blue or black (possibly a batik) that has a tone on tone effect...then a not so subtle binding?
