I use the same thread I used to make the quilt, have never had a problem, I just use tiny stiches.

I use my hand-quilting thread. The glazed cotton thread slides thru easily and as long as i don't get too long of a piece, it doesn't knot up.
|
I also use the same wt thread I have used for the rest of the quilt, using tiny stitches. I have never had a problem with it. Typically it is 50wt. My machine doesn't like 30wt thread so I have gotten rid of all of it.

Hand quilting thread.
|
I use what I have quilted my quilt with and currently that is a 30 wt thread by Aurifil.
|
i use silk thread most of the time- if i use other thread i just use regular thread i use for piecing- in what ever color is the correct color for the project- generally a 40-60wt thread...but most of the time i use silk

My preference is a single strand of hand quilting thread as it's stronger than regular thread.

I use Mettler silk finish thread and match the color thread to the color of the binding. One strand, and I knot the side that comes off the spool, this helps keep the thread from twisting and knotting.

I use a single strand of hand quilting thread because of it's strength. I've never had any problems with it being thicker thread and showing. I ladderstitch my bindings to the back and it's almost invisble.
