Thread for Binding

What type/weight of thread do you use for hand stitching binding?

Thanks!

I use my regarding sewing thread. Interested in reading what others use.

My preference is a single strand of hand quilting thread as it's stronger than regular thread.

I love the Mettler silk finish thread for hand sewing my binding down, It doesn't seem to tangle as much and is lovely to sew with.

I've been piecing a gfg with silk thread and it slides through so much nicer...is it strong enough for binding?

I use one strand of sturdier thread to hand sew my binding. If I can find hand quilting thread in the right colour I like to use that. I used to use 2 strands of regular sewing thread but you have to constantly straighten the thread. For some reason one thread always pulls tighter than the other leaving a loop in one thread.

I use the same thread I use for piecing, which right now is Masterpiece. Isn't hand quilting thread too thick for binding? Seems it would be harder to hide.

I always use a double strand of hand quilting thread, if I have some that matches the binding and I pull it tight as I sew. Works great for me.

i use whatever thread i have used for the rest of the quilt

I use either one strand of hand quilting thread or 2 strands of regular sewing thread. Just depends on color and what I have on hand and what is handiest!
