I have made a few, and have given half away.. the other ones I keep in my car for grocery shopping, as to not bring home plastic ones.

There's no way I would have the time or patience. I ordered mine from Denise B. :-)

Lots of patterns.......but no bags.

Hope there is room in the boat for me. I am both sleepless and bagless in Seattle  Although I haven't been interested in them before, I was thinking the other day that I should make one. I had a really hard time finding a purse that meets my criteria a few months ago, so am consideriing making my own purse/bag that I could customize. Gotta finish the two quilts I've promised first. Then maybe I can get out of the boat

I made a BowTucks bag about a year ago, and I've pretty much used the heck out of it. I'm planning on making another one, but other projects keep getting in the way. I've been trying to finish UFO's, and doing well with them, but that doesn't leave much time to make a new purse. I'm not sure I can stand to use the "old" bag much longer, so I might just use one of my older, purchased bags until I get around to the new BowTucks bag...

Love the bag. Thanks for the link to get the pattern. It is really a cute summer bag!

[quote=katier825]I've made a few different patterns, but like Goldilocks, I have to keep trying until I find one that's just right. Too small, too big, not enough pockets, wrong size pockets, you name it. I really need to come up with my own pattern. Maybe one day when I've got nothing better to do. :)

That sounds like me.

Have made two for myself and people have given me bags so there are lots of bags in my sewing closets.

NICE NICE NICE bags!

I usually make a new bag each year. Sometimes one for summer & one for winter. Right now I'm using the "Wallet & Grommit" bag that I made. It has large grommit for the handles to be attached to. If you decide to make one, I found out that you need to use buckrum (an interfacing for hats) to keep the grommits from pulling out. I made an I Love Lucy tote for my oldest DD. She's a bagaholic.

I just can't seem to get around to whip anything out too fast these days. Must have spring fever. How is that for a good excuse for being lazy?

cmputerdazed 04-07-2011 08:32 PM

I firmly believe in spring fever. In fact I too have a pretty bad case of it.

Too funny, and I'm with ya!

Are you in the same bagless boat?

Or

Are you whipping them out faster than quilts and table runners?

I've made tons of bags - kept a few for myself but have given most of them away. I think they are fun to make and that everyone should make at least one bag to keep for themselves!

I make my own pocketbooks also. I really the pattern called Convert-Able because the inside piece is removable, so you just need to make outside pieces to change every once in a while.

Love this post. I like to look at all the bags/purses that everyone has made. I just ordered a pattern today for one.

quiltinghere 04-15-2011 03:00 PM

I recently picked up a few patterns for bags - maybe I can get to them NEXT month.

OHSue 04-15-2011 03:08 PM

I did bags a while ago, so I already have a good stock, but I do love making them.
But I feel the same way about knitting, by the time I finish a sweater it is out of style.

i've made tons... mostly give away... the people i give them too always like them better than ME!!!
Me and Patterns.. don't jive too well... always cut something wrong, or differnt and end up doing my own thing, LOL... check out my post of 57,000 stitches... it's my latest bag... i'm kinda proud of it.. nothing fancy, but my dear friend LOVES this "print"...barbara

GrammaBabs 04-15-2011 03:14 PM

I don't care for patterns either - by the time I figure out what they're trying to tell me to do - I could have come up with the pattern myself.

The price was perfect on these few patterns - so I took the plunge into the "one day I'm going to make these" lake. :)
