She was going to try to learn how to quilt but decided not to for some reasion. Her health and life got in the way I think.

grannypat7925 01-30-2011 03:31 PM

WOW! You hit the jackpot and she was probably really glad for the trade for something she can use. Accept with grace and don't feel bad.

nanquilt 01-30-2011 03:32 PM

The trade was a true blessing for the both of you. Thanks for the blog, it really cheers me up after reading the Sunday paper.

vwquilting 01-30-2011 03:51 PM

I have 2 lawn and garden bags of yarn from when my mom died. I offerred to send it to her and she said "I have a little bit of material I could trade you for it".

So I though ok - but I was willing to give her the yarn for nothing in exchange.

I came home today from errands and I had THREE - yes THREE Large Priority Mail boxes on my porch - FILLED WITH MATERIAL. Some of its already cut but 2 of the boxes were nothing but folds of material - nothing less than a yard. I was going to lay it out and take pictures but I'm so over whelmed...Ladies I kid you not this has to be 30 yards of uncut material and over 100 cut squares and 100 cut rectangles.

I feel like the yarn I am sending her is no where near worth what she sent me.

Pam,
Don't give it a second thought. The exchange was for something you had on hand and wished to be used by someone who could appreciate it. I'd say accept the gift as it was given, not by amount, but with love of what she had and wanted to be put to a good use. You have a wonderful friends and don't base your friendship on amounts but on volumes of lovely things you each can share with her. Make her a lap quilt that she can wrap herself in and think of you each time she uses it. Perhaps that will ease your burdened heart.

Andie :-D :-D :D

Cheshirecatquilter 01-30-2011 04:30 PM

Sometimes you just have to stop worrying about everything "coming out even", and just be open to the next opportunity to help someone else or accept something from them. It makes the world go 'round.

deecnp661 01-30-2011 04:44 PM

since you both live in corpus christi maybe you can donate the yarn to gher friend. then everyonr is happy and you wiil get it out of your hair! Dee

The yarn no matter how much I'm sure will be a blessing to her. You could always make her a quilt if you think you need to give her more for the exchange.

mummadee 01-30-2011 05:11 PM

Do you plan on selling any of the fabrics? If so, I'd love to have the Snoopy fabrics for my brother in law. I've been making him pillowcases and other articles. Thanks.

KarenBarnes 01-30-2011 05:16 PM

You could always make her a lap quilt in your spare time! :)I know it's a horrible task but I'm sure you could handle it!

pamkasperi 01-30-2011 05:26 PM

What is really funny about all of this - and I had forgotten it - she found a picture of us in 8th grade....wait for it - in Home Ec class together sitting at a sewing machine and I was doing her project for her.....

jojosnana 01-30-2011 05:35 PM

bgullett 01-30-2011 05:37 PM

IBQUILTIN 01-30-2011 06:37 PM

Great swap

hspirit_99 01-30-2011 06:38 PM

if you havent priced yarn lately, it has gone way up in cost. but take it from someone who knitts and crochets, what you described would be one heck of a trade off.

That is so cool that you two found each other and that you both have materials that you don't use and can share with each other.

If you really think your yarn isn't as great a gift as her fabrics were to you, then maybe you can use some of the fabrics that she sent and make her a nice warm quilt and send it back when you're done. This way you still save grace in how you feel, and she gets a nice quilt that she will always have to remember you by.

It's a share thing!

The Quiet Quilter 01-30-2011 08:20 PM

I think you both got a good deal!!
The best part is you are renewing
your friendship. Enjoy!!

A great barter, and I agree with others yarn is not cheap at all
so I would think from the sounds of it that she would be the one coming out on top . Whats wonderful is the fact you both have found each other and are still good friends after all this time, just enjoy your friendship and don't worry about the exchange , your both very lucky . :-D

Rose Bagwell 01-30-2011 09:37 PM

Wow, how nice to have a friend like that.

IMACountryGirl 01-30-2011 09:58 PM

What fun your going to have!

Cuddly Quilter 01-31-2011 01:30 AM

That is fantastic. Just remember for her the yarn is more precious than the fabric and visa versa....enjoy creating wonderful quilts from these.

wonderwoman 01-31-2011 06:10 AM

How fortunate you are....so is she! Enjoy!

kyleewonder 01-31-2011 06:18 AM

WOW what a pal!!! Hope you sent back lots of yarn, my material stash is running low but yarn I always have plenty of. Everytime I make a new crochet blanket, I always buy too much yarn. LOL

leiladylei54 01-31-2011 07:03 AM

What a great trade!!! Lucky you!!!

Ritacarl 01-31-2011 12:36 PM

WOW!! As I looked through you material, I wondered how in the world you are going to decide on what to do next. Looks like a lot of fun just going through the yards and yards of material and putting it in some kind of order. Have fun!!
Rita
