At my first REAL attempt at FMQ... I have practiced my little heart out on a sample sandwich, got the tension just right, bought the perfect thread for the quilt today... so all I have left is to just do it!!

I AM SCARED!!

If you are changing the thread to something different than your practice sandwich, you may need to check again on a another practice sandwich....it can make a difference in the tension. Good Luck!

Hope it went well for you! Waiting for pics!

Are you addicted yet? lol

shirley35 08-25-2011 04:13 AM

I'll repeat what's been said, relax and breathe.

psquared52 08-25-2011 04:33 AM

I'm a relative novice at FMQ but it's something I really want to be able to do well so I am always practicing. I do find my FMQ gets better as I get "warmed up" so I start at the bottom corner. That way the my initial jerky movements won't be so noticeable since they are on the bottom.

carrot 08-25-2011 04:46 AM

you can do it

Connielin 08-25-2011 04:46 AM

this will be exciting. you'll have sooo many new creations. I use a lot of practice 'sandwiches' as coasters or 'trivets'. Waste not, want not.

Latrinka 08-25-2011 04:48 AM

Just pretend you've been doing it for years! Go for it!

Tinabodina 08-25-2011 04:50 AM

Sounds like you have done every thing possible to get ready. Just remember we have a love/hate relationship with our rippers. :D

SWEETPEACHES 08-25-2011 04:53 AM

Breathe deeply and relax

Put on your favorite music

Take breaks as often as needed

Did I say put on your favorite music?

Exactly right! Even if I'm not a novice anymore at FMQ, the first 2-3 minutes are always harded. Be patient with youlself. Allow you to make mistake, it will take the pressure off. Can't wait for you to tell us how it went.

SuzyQ 08-25-2011 05:10 AM

Go for it!

oma66 08-25-2011 05:16 AM

take it slowly and all will go well.

KathyKat 08-25-2011 05:28 AM

Go Girl, Go!! I felt the same way and was so surprised at how well my first quilt went with the simple meandering pattern. You just have to fight the fear.

GramaLaura 08-25-2011 05:49 AM

I know it will be gorgeous!! Show us when you are finished :-D
