Is this too soft?
1 Attachment(s)
I am not sure that is the right question, but I want to make a quilt that isn't bright, where nothing really "pops." (My last two have been so bright that I almost needed sunglasses when I sewed.)
I have laid these five inch blocks on my design wall, and I like it. I even like how the two fabrics tend to blur together. But now I am wondering if it is too "soft," colorwise. I have been looking at it for a day now, and I am ready to actually sew the blocks together....but I am wondering if I am stalling because it is too soft? So, I should proceed, right? If I like it, it doesn't matter what my guild would say about it? (My quilts always seem so different from the others in Show and Tell.) Dina |
Hey, that's because you are you. Be yourself! That's how new things come about. You don't follow the crowd. I like it. You have a dark, a medium and a light. Go for it.

There's nothing wrong with "soft" coloring - I think it's very pretty.
I really like the color's you chose. It will be a beautiful quilt.
I think its really pretty and if you like it - why not - you're probably still dazzeled by your previous quilts !!!!!
It's great ... even though it's "soft" you still have good contrast to bring the pattern out.
I like it. If you think it needs a little more you could make a narrow border with a darker purple then soft again, that would add a liitle pop.
I like it, the darker purple is just a hint darker then the other purple. It doesn't pop but it's still nice. Sometimes nice is good. You're eyes will thank you when you are quilting.
Now THIS appeals greatly to me! I love comfortable colors and your design has enough contrast to make is stand out, but not SCREAM....
I like it, that is the fun of sewing/quilting...one day you can be loud and one day you can be soft and then one day you can be just plain silly :D
