Trust Issues
 

I have trust issues -

I do not trust fabric to behave
I do not trust measurements on pre-cuts to be exactly what I expect
I do not trust that there will be at least the number of pins stated in the package
I do not trust the directions on the pattern will be accurate

Anyone else?

I'm a belt AND suspenders type person myself. I guess I have trust issues also since I like to have a backup plan.:D

Isn't that what life is all about....Trust that things will go exactly they way they are meant to be. That their is a greater plan. I believe that in quilting also. That their is always a chance to roll with the challenges that present themselves. It leaves you room to make it your original. In any case, don't sweat the small stuff. :)

I do not trust measurements on pre-cuts to be exactly what I expect - I make my own cuts.
I do not trust that there will be at least the number of pins stated in the package. - Never can have too many pins, buy two packages.
I do not trust the directions on the pattern will be accurate. - "First you cut out 2,374 triangles and sew them into HSTs." Throw those directions OUT and figure it out yourself.

Rely upon yourself and see if the trust issues go away. tim in sanjose

I am not untrusting of fabric or patterns. I have awesome trust in my skills and my wits.

I am dealing with donated scraps all the time so I always have a backup plan b or c or d....

I just dive in and worry about the problem as it occurs. After many dives I know how to avoid them all.

I wash my fabric in hot water and dry in hot dryer. I starch and iron it to death before cutting. That fabric is not stretching.
I solved the inaccurate cut problem by buying a Go and the dies I need for just about any quilt pattern.
If I think a package of something is the exact amount I need, I buy two.
I check online for any corrections to patterns, there is always a correction if the pattern is wrong.

I go with what I can see, feel, and a free pattern and my own yardage. That's my plan I've learned from my past to trust.

My two basic rules:
1. Don't sweat the small stuff
2. It's all small stuff.

I try to roll with the punches.
