That was Georgia Bonesteel who had a TV show called "Lap Quilting" back in the 1970s. She suggested getting more variety in a scrap quilt that way.

I've done it by accident too. Sometimes it hard to tell which side is up. Found I'd put one on backwards but had already incorporated it into the quilt so decided to leave it since I hadn't seen it till long afterwards I doubt anyone else would notice it either.

I often tell my customers that quilters get a double deal - because we use both sides of the fabric!

I cut two red fabric pieces too small for the place in a block. Looking around I spotted some Xmas charms and

found my replacements right away. I turned some snowflakes and flipped to the back and there was "grunge"

fabric . Not the first time but the fastest !!
