I learned on another thread about the Eleanor Burns Quilt in a Day show on tv. Found it on the RFD channel (345 on my DirecTV), Wednesday at 2:30 (not sure how often it's on but I set my DVR to record all of them).

I also get Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting on NY21 (a public tv channel, Channel 21 on my DirecTV) Thursdays at 3 pm.

Are there any other shows we can look for? Please give all the information you have (network, channel on your tv, day & time).

It's true that you can watch some of these online at their websites.

Sewing with Nancy does some shows about quilting. It's on my local PBS station.

Pam 04-07-2010 09:35 AM

You can see parts of Simply Quilts at HGTV.com. BOOOOO HGTV for taking that off.

craftybear 04-07-2010 09:37 AM

I have Dish TV and don't seem to find any of the quilting shows on tv now

jljack 04-07-2010 09:39 AM

I think Simply Quilts got too expensive for the network...and Alex and Ricky decided they could make more money on the internet, charging for their videos on there. Anyway, I sure miss that show!!

Fons & Porter in our area is on ValleyPublic TV on Saturday mornings at 8:30. However, we only get to see 3 in a row, and then they do fund raising for 3 weekends and it gets bumped. I don't like that they do that. I love that show, and I miss it when it's not on.

I do get Sewing with Nancy, and it's on a different station - don't recall which one. It's on at times I am not at home, so I record.

Quilt In a Day is on the Catholic station here...isn't that weird? I also have to record that one, as it's on during the day.

that's the one I was going to say.

Katia 04-07-2010 09:42 AM

Woohoo !!! Thanks for mentioning about RFD. Eleanor comes on at 11:30am Wednesday here. How cool is that?

amma 04-07-2010 10:03 AM

Both America Sews Creatively and America Quilts Creatively. They both have quilt segments.

Lap Quilting with Georgia Bonesteel is another one.

Quilting Arts

Kaye's Quilting Friends

Martha Pullen has a show too, lots of heirloom, but also quilting too.

I watch all of these on my local PBS channels.

amandasgramma 04-07-2010 10:12 AM

I get 250 channels on DishNetwork....and I just found the RFD channel -- #231!!! (in my area) I went to their website and pulled up the channels, found RFD, and it gave two #s -- 9398 and 231. I got it on 231!! I also have learned a lot from www.quilterstv.com....THANK YOU!!!!!

Kitsie 04-07-2010 12:15 PM

F&P's show has been listed on my DirectTV on a public broadcast channel but when I go there its a woodworker's shop! Darn! I don't get a Ch 21.

sewcrafty 04-07-2010 01:08 PM

What is the rfd channel? I can't seem to find it.

amandasgramma 04-07-2010 01:09 PM

Our DishNetwork had a woodworking show on just before the quilt show!!!!

Seanette 04-07-2010 01:40 PM

Comcast doesn't seem to offer a lot. Must hunt online. (sigh)

trupeach1 04-07-2010 02:15 PM

Quilt in a Day on RFD Directv ch.345 Thursday morning 12:30am.

stitchinwitch 04-07-2010 02:20 PM

I THINK DISH took off RFD. They are almost like WalMart - discontinuing everything!

We have Dish (250 channels) and I found RFD on (I think) ch#231 here, thanks to this thread.

My sister has Comcast and they quit offering HGTV late last year.

ssendelbach 04-07-2010 02:44 PM

Hi There is
sewing with Nancy on USF (channel 16) public tv in Florida. M-F at 8:00 a.m. Also, there is a different show at 8:30 M-F. On USF, too. (That's WUSF). Good luck.

ssendelbach 04-07-2010 02:45 PM

I totally agree- what are they doing with all of them?

Carole3450 04-07-2010 02:45 PM

We have Comcast and don't get any quilting shows Grrrrrrrr.

Seanette 04-07-2010 02:50 PM

I managed to dredge up Fons & Porter on PBS, but based on the one episode I've seen, that show's all about all the high-priced tools/toys with not a lot of interest in the quilter with a less than bottomless wallet.

Kitsie 04-07-2010 02:53 PM

DirectTV carries RFD (Rural Farm ???) and Ellen Burns used to be on there.

Thanks for that tip. I usually don't go past channel 312. RFD is on 345 and Quilt in a day is on at 12:30 a.m. (now I just have to find out the time zone and set my DVR)

debbieumphress 04-07-2010 03:36 PM

I am thinking of paying 34.99 to Join F&P qnn.tv. They have shows 24/7. Also get magazine and other coupons from sponsors. YOu can go on qnn.tv and watch their free shows too.

craftmama 04-07-2010 04:00 PM

I usually watch Martha Pullen on the BYU network. She is on M-F at 6:30 AM and reruns at 6:30 PM. I would much rather watch Martha Pullen before work, it sure beats the news.

Debbie1219 04-07-2010 04:41 PM

Thank you, thank you newestnana for this thread. I have Dish Network. I found Quilt in a Day on RFDTV. A channel I never watch.
Thank you, craftmama, for Martha Pullen on BYUTV. It's on channel 9403 here. I certainly never looked that far down and I love heirloom.
And thanks amma for your list, I'm still checking for those.
Are there any more out there?

stitchinMamaw 04-07-2010 04:44 PM

Thanks for listing these . I have directv and can get the one on BYU station . The others I can't get . All the good ones have been taken off air ! My PBS channel had some and then took them off , BOO ! Annie

stitchinwitch 04-07-2010 06:39 PM

Thanks Prism - There IS a RFD on 231 - but its greened out - so I can't get it -

Yes, they use fancy tools but I've gotten some good ideas from them too. I like the part where they read the hints people write in.

Don't think that showed up in the episode I watched. I'll give it a few more as a fair chance (could have just caught an "off" one).

Couldn't identify Martha Pullen's show on BYU-TV. What's the title?

Debbie1219 04-07-2010 08:47 PM

Martha's Sewing Room

Thanks. I've told my DVR to grab that for me. I'd seen the title listed, but wasn't sure I had the right show (didn't want to wind up watching Martha Stewart, whom I personally find rather irritating).

amandasgramma 04-08-2010 06:58 AM

I didn't realize others don't like her, too!!! Someone once said I was "like Martha"......I bit her head off!!! I felt bad, but do NOT compare me to that woman! (and that was BEFORE she went to prison)

stitchinMamaw 04-08-2010 07:03 AM

I can't stand her either . I bought some of her crappy garden seeds a few yrs ago . Big mistake , didn't even grow ! Good stuff , huh ? Annie

stitchhappy 04-08-2010 07:09 AM

Yeah, that was an everyday program for me. That wasn't very nice to take it away!!!

stitchhappy 04-08-2010 07:17 AM

Not Martha Stewart; I meant Simply Quilts.

MadQuilter 04-08-2010 08:02 AM

So I found the Quilt in a Day show on the RFD channel and sat there eagerly waiting for quilting inspiration. I lasted all of 10 minutes before I changed the channel. How anyone can handle the Eleanor Burns WHINE is beyond me. Nice lady - but her voice and oh so cutiepie mannerisms....gag me!

Rose Marie 04-08-2010 08:15 AM

Eleanor Burns was a special eds teacher before quilting so it shows in her teaching.
She is corney but she grows on you as her personality comes out. She is not greedy like Fons and Porter or Alex Anderson.
Both of those charge for their programing on the web.
Fons and Porter bought Qnntv and started charging for it.
It was free for a long time before they bought it.
You will notice El Burns shows are on Quilterstv and on her website and on RFD and all free.

mojo11 04-08-2010 08:17 AM

I agree with "Boo to HGTV" for taking off Simply Quilts. We seem to have lost several quilt shows about the same time. I guess the media doesn't worry about how many quilters are in the country. I watch Eleanor Burns on RFD too, and Fons & Porter on Sat on PBS when they are not fund raising. Don't watch Alex on line - Ricky??????
Thanks for letting me vent.

Rose Marie 04-08-2010 08:26 AM

Alex charges a fortune for thier website. Over 20 dollars for a few months. Im sure she took her show off TV so she could make money on line instead.

azdesertrat 04-08-2010 08:37 AM

how in the world did you find out it was on there?
