Okay. Here are boxes that I put it all in and there is still probably 4 or 5 banana boxes left in the Van. I have to get some more boxes tomorrow.
I don't know how much fabric there is in there for sure, but I DO know that I quit adding it up after I got to 200 yards...and that is NOT COUNTING a gazillion panels. I know I won't use all of it, but I know for a fact that there is enough fabric to not only make a ton of quilts, but backing fabric also. In total so far there are 24 banana boxes stuffed full and a duffle bag and an over sized tote bag. Heres a picture of the boxes. Im leaving them on my patio as I want to wash every single bit of the stuff. This is only 12 of them as the other 12 are in the washers up in the laundry room. I am going to be washing fabric for a year!! lol

Wow, thanks for sharing your photo with us, great job on your cool find for all of that fabric

cjomomma 04-27-2011 05:35 PM

You got all that from Walmart? Ok how did you do that?

suebee 04-27-2011 05:35 PM

I must have missed the first part. You went and bought all this fabric? amazing.

cjomomma 04-27-2011 05:38 PM

you bought over time ? what are your plans for all the panels?

M.I.Late 04-27-2011 05:49 PM

$1 a yard? Boy you certainly scored. Well, what you don't like, you can always offer up on here and use the money for some stuff you do like or patterns or batting. What comes from our craft goes back into our craft. $$$ That's what I tell my DH anyway. If I sell something - the money goes right back into my little money pit. :)

It was easy. First we went to Joanns but they were closed. So we drove over to walmart to get the fabric I needed for the border on the Ants go Marching Quilt I am doing. And while I was looking at some fabric, there was an older lady in one of the electric carts looking at fabric and asked me if I sewed and I said yes that I make quilts and she said she had some fabric for $1.00 a yard she was selling and she had quite a bit. So she gave me her phone number and address and I paid for the fabric that I had cut drove ALL THE WAY home (its an hours drive one way) sat here and decided to call her because I had posted on this and some of the people on here said not to wait till saturday and so I called her and she said we could come over so we drive the hour to her house and that is how I got a "great sale at Walmart" lol man if they knew that lady sold me all that fabric IN THEIR store, I bet they would have banned us both for life. LOLOL. I will probably do a lot of it as PIF on here once I get it organized.

Thats what I just told my husband I was going to PIF just for postage once I go through it. Might take me a year but I will. :)

Joanie2 04-27-2011 06:25 PM

Isn't it wonderful to sew from someone else's stash. I get bored with mine sometimes....always the same colors. it must be so exciting opening up the boxes to see what's inside. Happy quilting.

BluegrassGurl 04-27-2011 07:18 PM

What a treasure and blessing!!!! Nothing coincidental about the two of you being at that specific Wal-Mart at the very same time..... looking at the fabric.... etc. You were meant to have it.

Have fun!!!!!

2000HD 04-27-2011 07:33 PM

It is. I bought a trunk of fabric a couple of years ago at a flea market for $20 and it is fun to use it. Still is, even though it is all sorted and put in with my stash. There is something so exciting about it--hard to explain, but just looking gives me a thrill!

Jammin' Jane 04-27-2011 10:18 PM

Please show us as you open your boxes...I love treasures!

earthwalker 04-27-2011 10:41 PM

How incredibly fortunate! I got excited today because I got a box of fabric delivered I bought from Ebay and it was way, way, better than I thought it would be....but nothing like your amazing haul! Please do show us when you can....I love treasure too!

Airwick156 04-27-2011 10:42 PM

There is a few projects she must have started and never finished. So I will finish them they are aprons and pot holders, oh and placemats that she cut all out but never did anything with them. There is an Elvis tote bag that she cut out that I WILL never finish because I don't like Elvis. I have emptied out 2 of the boxes so far besides what I ran through the washing machines. I still have to fold and iron that. Should have only washed a couple of boxes and then ironed and folded that but noooooooo I had to put it all in the washers. A lady at my sewing group said she will help me iron all of it if I bring it to sewing next week so I am pretty sure that I will take her up on that offer. There is alot of Kiddie fabrics and Christmas Fabrics. And who in their right minds needs 15 yards of RED FABRIC. lol

bisseau 04-28-2011 02:34 AM

Wow, Wow, Wow...that's a lot of fabric. What fun you'll have going through it...Treasure Hunt.
