Sounds like time for Plan B for those pieces.

YES!! I call this a great design opportunity; the universe was obviously telling you not to make something from some old pattern, but to strike out on your own today. :D

You're going to love whatever you come up with, push yourself a bit with pieced borders, too. And be sure to show us the finished project!

THANK YOU ALL so very much, I do feel so much better reading your comments!!! I have company visiting this week, but as soon as my sewing cabinet can be opened again I will take this as the opportunity you describe and create something!!!

I agree with GingerK. We all make mistakes. That is why the call them accidents not on purposes (don't think that is a word but you get the meaning, I hope)

Creative juices telling you there is something greater for you to make. Don't fight it, go with the flow and post a picture so we can all enjoy it. Happy Quilting

Several of my favorite quilts changed paths in th middle of the project because I goofed...Sometimes plan B is better anyway. Don't be afraid to do your own thing!

This is a very pretty pattern to use up some pinwheels, but be aware that the pinwheels are spinning both ways. One row spins left right and one row spins left. Sure makes a beautiful pattern. With all those HST's, you can make the pinwheels both ways easily. Then another bunch of 16 patches, and you have it.

Thank you for this post! I thought I was having one of those weeks all by myself! I had just gotten my Quiltmaker magazine for September/October, and found a quick pattern (Harvest) that I thought would be PERFECT for a baby quilt I had to do. Great big HST's, it was going together quickly. Two of rows one, two and three. All the pieces cut out, rows one and two put together, and as I'm laying out row three, I remind myself that I'm switching the pattern's light and dark. The other voice in my head says, "Really? Did I miss the memo?". Instead of ripping, I went with it, and it turned out really cute.
