Default Urghhhhh big oops, what to do now???

I cut out my squares for a pattern, walked away from it for awhile. When I finally sat down I started to draw diagonal lines across the lighter ones and proceeded to make HST. After doing them all I realized that I was supposed to make 4 patches not HST for the pattern. What swiss cheese I have for brains...bad day!! They are now HST in greens and browns. Any suggestions on what to do with them now? Try not to laugh to hard . I have forgiven myself today!! :-)

How about pinwheels? They're still a 4 patch configuration. I feel your pain.

Okay, time for a design decision. Make the pinwheels and then frame them with a co-ordinating (or contrasting) fabric, to bring them back to the size of the 4 patch. (or set them as a square in square or goodness knows how many other ways they could be put together) If that will not actually work with the original pattern, well, you could recut everything, hoping you have enough fabric, or just totally change the whole thing and make it all your own.

This is an opportunity NOT a mistake.

Sounds like me yesterday - I wanted to make pinwheels so I placed two charms together, sewed around the outside, and down the middle diagonally a couple of times. When I cut them apart I had closed pockets sewn around all three sides. Spent the next hour unsewing. At least you have HST's - just Google image HST quilts and you'll get a bunch of ideas. Happy quilting!

Surely there must be something in the air! I haven't been able to do much right, either! I do feel your angst and hope you've found something to do with your 'new' HSTs!

When I make mistakes like that they turn into potholders which can be any size.

I agree with GingerK. I am almost always running short on fabric when piecing charity quilts from donated fabrics. When given lemons, make lemonade !!
