I like to pick a pattern and start with what I have in my stash and then if I need to, go shopping for a piece or two to fill in. I don't worry about using the same fabric line for all the pieces in a quilt. I just use what I like.

Just look at any magazine lately......many fabrics, a lot the same design in different colorways in them....Don't let that bother you......

I just bought some fabric with the same patterns and different colors. I plan on using them together.

I get the stuff home look at the fabric again and decide I need something different. It's costing me an arm and and leg!

Go for it! The first "real" quilt I was asked to make was a crib quilt for my daughter - she choose a Carol Doak pattern with a duck! So the colors were tone-on-tone white, pale pink, pale yellow and pale green! After I had started working on it - very, very slowly - it was my first paper piecing attempt, she told me she wanted chenille in it also! So, the ducks all had a piece of chenille in their tails! I was extremely hesitant about her color choices, but they were beautiful together! And yes, I still like to pp.

As long as you are pleased with how it looks, it's perfect!

If using the same print in different colorways is tacky, then I'm tacky... Every jellyroll, layer cake and charm square collection has the same prints in several colorways and I don't think they were made to be used in separate projects.
