Here in Uk VAT is 17 1/2% at the moment ,, but is going up to 20% in the New Year. A lot of the major stores have advertised that they will be absorbing the extra VAT during the sales, but I do not think that will happen with fabric shops.

You need to make a trip to the good old USA and
bring empty luggage....and fill it with material. Lancaster, PA is great for fabric prices. |
Thank you all for your input. Love my quilting and will continue to quilt. I have enough fabric for a few years.

Illinois 10% highest in the nation! Wisconsin 5%. No tax on food or clothes in Minnesota at 5%.

I set my sewing machine needle to 6mm and use the edge of my foot as my guide

The tax may be up there percentage wise but the fabric at Hancock's in Paducah whatever I paid was worth the trip from Ontario. The choice though was unbelievable and I know I bought way too much but what the heck it will end up as quilts sooner or later

In California, there is a state sales tax, plus some cities and counties have an additional tax that has been approved by voters locally.
I pay 8.25% tax on local purchases. |
