thats not a problem i have a template for leaves and have that part covered what i need is to know how much fabric is required for the quilt as a whole. minus the leaves, got that covered. so if you could do that for me i would be indebted. i have the pattern for a 9 block just really green at this whole thing and can't figure out how much fabric is necessary to make the quilt. thanks rachelle

rachelle, I am sooooo sorry that I can't help you because I am just making up this quilt as I go along and am using scraps and bits in my stash and I haven't bought a thing and I have no idea about yardage requirements. Maybe someone would know how to figure this. I have learned that I like to start and work through a quilt 'by the seat of my pants' and make decisions as I go along.

cmg those are lovely fabrics, and the block is so mellow! Are they all from a family or did you find them yourself?
And have you posted on the main thread? I didn't see you over there!

It turned out GREAT! (And I was wrong about the braid- it looks amazing without the cream in it!)
I am excited about Christmas already, and a quilt like that puts me right in the mood :D

Greetings! I GOT IT DONE!!! This quilt "Santa's Galore" is one I started designing for my SIL who collects Santas two years ago. So I was cleaning and found the pieces. I had to do some "design" changes because my cutting wasn't very accurate back then. So when I got the squares together I decided it needed something, so found the border fabric. Then it still needed something and I decided to do a braided border (which I had never done). Just have to put the tag on it and it will be ready to travel to MI when we go in a couple weeks. Can't wait to get it to her house instead of laying in mine. Now on to the next project.

OMG! I finally got it done... even the back! And I got the binding made & rolled up for when it's quilted! Woo hoo! I had insomnia something firece last PM & tho I'm dragging my wagon today (or as my DS would say when he was little "I'm re-hausted!"... LOL), I finally got this (silly) Jelly Roll Race done. Yes, I've been working on it for what seems like eons & it just wouldn't do what I wanted it to but today I got the borders on & then took all the various left-over bits & pieces & pieced them into a backing. I whacked a couple of pieces off the quilt top itself (it was too wide for a lap-sized quilt) plus I had bought too much fabric (my theory is better too much than not enough) so I just sewed all that together along with some muslin & made it into the back ("The Back Garden"). The picture of it is the backing folded in 1/4ths. And yes, that's Leo "helping". Leo, who has never chewed up a single thing of ours since we got him, decided that Mommy sewing & not letting him sit on her lap was icky so he chewed 2 inches off my favorite styrofoam yardstick (which I've had since the beginning of time... anyboyd else have a favorite ruler?! Can you say spoiled? LOL!

My question is this... how do you think this quilt should be quilted? Since it's so busy & bright, I was thinking just rather loose stipples or loops or something that kind of flowed. Do you think that would be OK?

This quilt will be called "Kate's Flower Garden". It's for a really sweet neighbor of mine who has a spectacular flower garden, which she generously shares with me. I have beautiful cut flowers all summer long! So this is the least I can do.

How about everybody else? Get lots done? Have lots of fun? I sure did (to both questions) & can't wait to go at it again next month!

Please excuse the quality of these pictures (well, the focus mainly). We have a really nice camera but my DH had it set on some funky view-finder thing that I was having trouble with. Plus I'm just too tired from sewing to mess with cleaning up the pictures in Paint.

Thank you. I just picked out all the colors myself. Started out with the dark brown/blue flowers and the blue/gold and then matched from there.

Your pictures are just fine! I have spent sleepless times just to find the job was not as big or complicated as I first thought! Your quilt is adorable and I like that you are doing it for a giving neighbor. I think loose loopy stippling would be just fine. I like your idea. Great job, Rebecca!

I finished my x-stitched quilty piece. I did make progress on my leaf quilt. I am machine quilting around the leaves now. I have already quilted the pieced squares. I am so loving seeing the progress everyone is making!

I'm back from my dinner. Everyone is doing great. I like the jelly roll quilt with the borders. I like doing my jelly roll quilts with a meander, or loose stippling. I think it softens the lines of the quilt. I am done for the night also. This has been so much fun. Hope we can do this again soon. See y'all later.
